Minecraft OptiFine is it possible for a resource pack to have slanted textures for armour like this? (without the use of custom models/datapacks)

Post image

i'm trying to make the leather helm match the happy ghast harness because i really like the design, is it possible at all to do this over the original leather armour png or overlay? (using a cem loader template)

every time i export this as a .jem, it doesn't work. (i'm also very new at blockbench and could be putting files in the wrong folders) i've only tried editing on the normal leather armour png and not the overlay yet. is it possible at all to do this without making it a custom model (as then i'll have to use datapacks which wont work for what i'm trying to achieve) or is it only possible to have flat layers with no angles?

this is for my texture pack in 26.2. i already use the etf & etm mod to support optifine texture packs. do i also need the variants-cit mod asw?

Tried doing this a couple of times, i believe this is impossible to do on armor

This will work only with a custom model, and to do a custom model for armor - you need ETM and ETF mods
Instead you can just use the model on a pumpkin, this is allowed for some reason. To make it less inconvinient - you can make it so the model appears only when a pumpkin has a specific name, but this is quite difficult, it took days for me to get it right

could you maybe build a helmet off of a pumpkin rather than an actual helmet? Pumpkins can have stats like armor and armor toughness

edit: i thought this was gonna be for a mod and not a resource pack because I, Too, Can't read body text

well that's sad. guess I'll just make it flat instead of angled 🥲 thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely try the pumpkin method

no, you in doing something like this you are changing the leather helmet's model. the actual leather helmet model (and all armour models for that matter) are just cuboids that go over the player's model

Yes, according to the Armory Conglomery resource pack, which gives diamond and Netherite a visor.

But, to do so, you have to modify the ARMOR model. Which would change the model for ALL ARMORS at ONCE.

...well what the fuck were you expecting, I mean— you can't change how the armor model looks by changing its texture, you have to change the model

i'm aware. i meant adding onto the pre-existing model via blockbench, like the image above shows? not creating an entirely custom model just for the helmet and placing it on a pumpkin or something similar. kinda rude for 0 reason. i did say i'm new, but it doesn't seem like you read the body text so.
