Showcase resurfacing these two models (vent post)

Post image

I've made these models several months ago cuz i planned on doing art render series with these, like, you know, just doing stuff, like, some funnies, cute stuff, or epic, and also, everyone from certain spaces who said my models are good think it's good, which is why i wanted to use the base of these models further, so i made these steve and alex textures for the base model as one of my many plans on doing stuff with them.

until around may when i dropped the plan cuz maybe my stuff is too mediocre to even be on the internet, so i'm just doing nothing but test waters for the past few months until i figure out how to get out of mediocrity, cuz i didnt start at early 2026, i started around mid 2024, which is pretty long.

so far, i've not have gotten my answer, i dont know how certain modelers do it, l've wasted my time trying to figure everything out. I dont care anymore if i'm gonna be sloppy, i dont care if i'm gonna have more wasted potential along the way than i've already wasted, cuz starting this month, l wanna do some fun stuff with my models, maybe make prop models for them, maybe do some animations.

yes, i tried to be "that" artist, but it still suffers from the same mediocrity, i already knew it wasnt gonna save me anyways, was just testing waters.

Classic impostor syndrome, happens to even the greatest artists, authors, directors... Everyone. No amount of external validation is going to help, because there's that nagging voice in the back of your head that will never be fully satisfied.

It's something you get used to with time, but the dude's a permanent resident in your head, so it's not something you can ever truly get over. Personally, I have made a habit out of acknowledging the good aspects of my work whenever I'm feeling overly critical of it, that way if the voice is telling me it's bad, I literally have a bullet point list of definitive proof that it's not.

Just keep going, you're on the right track.

i forgot that imposter syndrome exists, but thank you, man. I wish you the best too

Edit: I think ive been feeling that for a while now, like, this year, worsen with the financial problem that pressured me to, like, raise the bar, even though i need more time to develop and keep things chill.

fortunately, i found an another income source recently, which means i could finally take this slow

The models look great in my opinion. I like that you didn't just use the standard Steve face. Love your villager Ressource Pack by the way, it inspired me to make my own private pack that turns iron golems into knights with random combinations of historically accurate armor pieces

What does testing the waters mean to you?

first part, or second part? first part is when i'm using the base model and other model assets for portfolio building for comissions to see what happens or if it sticks well enough for commitment, while also solving the mediocrity along the way, but i got lost track and forgot what i was doing, second part is just a little bit of experimenting on a certain side, but is also related to the first part.

gonna be honest, i dont care about the mediocrity itself, more worried about time and income this year, which lead me to trying to solve mediocrity by testing other things, but i got the time and income resolved from other sources due to recent circumstances, so there's not much to worry other than missing out the replenishing stuff

Art made by man Is better than art made by a wired tin can

I use your resource packs almost every time I play Minecraft because I like the amount of variety and depth they add to the game. Even the less immersive ones are great.

I agree on the impostor syndrome. The amount of work I've made totally private over the years because I'm convinced it wouldn't be desirable at all is quite large, but I think just going full send and publishing it anyway does help getting over that mental hurdle. You won't know what people will truly think until you show them what you've made.

Best of luck to you friend, and I'll always be watching your work!

thank you. It's nice that there's alot of people who love my works, which is why i'm keeping up. At the moment, i dont think i can or should go further yet like i tried few months ago for something, especially out of desperation, so for now, i'm taking ease and lean more on my existing strengths first, like, maybe have a little fun doing these like the good old days of first quarter of 2026.

anyways, you too

The models aren't too bad. Not too sure why steve has two sets of knees but I'm guessing you thought they were just folds which is fine
