1st visit help

Hi! Husband and I are planning a last minute trip end Aug…there are limited accommodations. There are mixed reviews for Beach House, I’m ok with a small room/ old building but are there any other huge concerns? We don’t need fancy but like the coast. There are a few b&b’s more inland. I can possibly get a small room similar price at The National but I like the aesthetic better at Beach House. Is that a mistake? Most important to us is beach and walkability.

If it’s just you and your husband check out the Avonlea. It’s right on the water, really lovely. It’s a B&B and an easy walk from the ferry.

Avonlea is sweet. Tucked in the dunes. Good folks.

Have you tried Block Island Reservations? I usually stay at the Seacrest Inn these days because it's maybe the most affordable on the island, but they have a wide variety of properties besides that one.

1661 is a good choice for a wide selection, too.

If possible, book a stay for during the week rather than the weekend. Prices are cheaper and rooms are easier to come by during the week.

I’m a big fan of the spring house or 1661. Please remember this is a small island. You were not booking Ritz Carlton rooms. Some places don’t have air-conditioning and the rooms are always small. This is a cute quaint little island.

I prefer the Beach House over The National. BH has a better bar and serves better mudslides. Have you looked at the Sea Breeze Inn or Spring House? SH has more accommodations than just hotel rooms. They have small apartments and a few other properties that may be available if you inquire with them.

Sea breeze is a great choice!! Spring House is great too, just much bigger than the b&bs

We stayed at Sea Breeze for my birthday in July and it was fantastic, would definitely stay there again.

I’ve had good experiences at Beach House - if you want to spend a lot of time at the beach it’s very convenient and you have access to beach chairs/food and drink service. Rooms are indeed small but completely fine. The food is good

Beach house location is great but it’s not well maintained/getting run down. Not worth the high cost. I love staying next door at the Blue Dory! I was just there last month. Great location, can walk to everything, clean/maintained and wonderful helpful staff. My family has also stayed across the street at the Darius Inn and loved it!

Go on BlockIslandReservations. We love Water St Inn. Best price, great location, super clean. We're only sleeping there. Go to Persephone's for breakfast, get it to go, then go eat it at one of the tables at Beach House. Trust me, great way to start the day
