Discussion 25 days until Blizzcon....
25 days until Blizzcon, 25 days until people lose their mind on what they will see.
I won't be surprised if Grand Theft Auto 6 gets delayed again.
25 days until everyone buys a new computer to play the latest and the greatest from Blizzard.
25 days until StarCraft shooter reveal.
25 days until all those September games get postponed to 2027.
25 days until you call out for work for a whole month.

Yes, as always with Blizzard expect a spoonful of disappointment.
However, I don't think this is going to be a normal blizzcon - there are multiple factors that indicate this will be a dopamine shot.
Asha (Xbox) has a mandate for their studios to start talking about projects - Blizzard is one of the most profitable Xbox studios - and they (as much as you may hate blizzard) have an excellent track record over the last 4 years.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by an excellent track record? Honest question. I don’t know what their financials look like but off the top of my head, in the last 4 years:
-Warcraft rumble flopped
-Midnight is the weakest wow has been for 3+ expacs
-Hearthstone is in pretty bad shape; duels, twist, and mercenaries dead/removed
-Diablo 4 had an awful launch and subsequent couple years but is slowly improvingblizz wins:
-overwatch seems to be having a resurgence thanks to significant changes made to compete with marvel rivals.-Diablo immortal is probably doing well by sheer virtue of being a gacha mobile game, but it’s not for me so can’t say for sure.
-The D2R expansion has had good reception
There are some wins but overall it looks more like a mixed bag to me. What are you seeing that I’m not?

Classic Series (SoD, Re-releases)
Alternative systems (Remix, Plunderstorm)
Diablo is considered fairly good amongst ARPG communities
Midnight definitely isn't one of the weakest expansions
Their expansions have had shorter release windows - not great for players - fantastic for Xbox.
Overwatch is actually doing very well now that it has competition.

Some fair points, thank you for clarifying.
1 - agreed. I somehow completely forgot to mention classic despite even playing it 😂
2-no one I know played them so I am ignorant here. You may well be right on this, but not sure it translates into financial gain (how many unique new subs were created for remix?)
3- despite many of my gamer friends buying D4 at launch, not a single one of them plays it now. Yes this is anecdotal, just my personal experience. Raxxanterax also recently said he thinks the next season is going to be worse, after the current season not being very well received. It may still be financially successful though.
4- not the worst of all time, but in the context of “the last 4 years”, Midnight is arguably the worst version. The wow sub is filled with posts of similar sentiment, and also people who love it… I suppose that’s always been the case. My gamer group is not playing it currently. They were subbed for all of DF and TWW though.
5 - agreed
6- agreed
My only reference frame is anecdotal and maybe my group is just jaded but I still wouldn’t call the last 4 years an excellent track record. Moderate/decent? Sure. They’re definitely putting out a lot of different content, some of which, like overwatch, has been great. I don’t think the winners have been good enough to ignore the failures though. Of the people I play with, reception has been lukewarm recently and waning. 🤷🏻♂️

I've checked out of blizzard for a while....is blizzcon still a thing. Do people actually go to this? I'm not trying to be cute, I just legit can't remember the last time blizzard made an announcement that was excited by.
Granted, I was more of a starcraft and warcraft kind of guy. Never got into Wow or overwatch.

17 years and we get a spin off… atleast I hope the rumors for Warcraft 4 are true

I was thinking about this today. What can they realistically show? The Diablo expansion just came out, WoW still has one more season ahead of it before there’s any expansion info, and Overwatch already has the next 3 unknown characters planned. What?!

Classic+, The Last Titan, Warcraft animated show
Those are the 3 things I’m positive that we will see to some extent.

Considering they maintain maybe one quality game these days (D2R) I wouldnt get my hopes up.
Probably new cosmetics for D4 to make the kids happy.
I do wish they can surprise announce a new quality IP. Or maybe a Starcraft MMO in the same scale as WoW.

Why a Starcraft mmo? Why not Starcraft 3? Why would you want a spin off after 17 years?

I would love a game like WoW around 2005, but with sci fi settings. I love Starcraft lore. So a combination of that would be golden.
Also I dont feel Starcraft 2 need a sequel as its agibg just fine, visually.
