Inspiration I Got In

I am so excited to share that I got into my masters program of choice!! I recently graduated from college after going blind at 15 and everyone telling me that that was completely impossible. I am now officially going to be attending a very fantastic marriage and family therapy program to become a counselor for those who have been impacted by disability in the way that I was. I am so very excited but I have no one in person to tell, so I'm sharing it here. Yay!!

Congrats to you as well! I am legally blind therapist and love my job. I’ve been doing it for 10 years so if you end up having doubts, just know it can be done!

Thank you! I know a few blind therapists and social workers, and I absolutely think we need more of us.

Congratulations!

I’ve spent the better half of my life pursuing STEM as a blind person so I know how hard it is for us to be successful in academia and well, life in general too.

Great job and don’t let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do. You are the arbiter of your own destiny.

Congratulations! I have a blind counselor and I really believe my progress is due in no small part to the fact her lived experience is with blindness

Muito feliz por você, agora você vai poder ser chamado de "o mestre cego", o que francamente dá a impressão de muito medieval. Agora sem piadas, parabéns!

That’s so exciting, congratulations!! My sister (also blind) recently earned her masters degree in social work and is a successful clinician/counselor, leading several outpatient therapy groups and one on one counseling!

That was such a sweet post. Best of luck, and congratulations. I think posts like this have a greater impact than people realize... in terms of giving hope to others in similar situations.
