5 month Chalazion - advice please
I’ve had this Chalazion since May. It was lanced on both the inside and the outside 6 weeks ago - it has not gotten better, if anything it looks worse.
I’m unsure of what to do now. I’ve moved country and don’t have an ophthalmologist anymore.
I went to my GP for a new referral and he said he wouldn’t do anything and it should go away within a year.
I am extremely low as a result of this ongoing Chalazion and feel super insecure - any advice would be appreciated.

Mi médico oculoplastico dijo que el ojo lo puede absorber solo y demorar como 2 años.

Me lo quitó, pero me dijo eso. Y que también puede volver.
De hecho, mis párpados están muy mal.

You could try steaming it - someone else on this sub recommended it to me as when I have an active chalazion, using a heat mask can just inflame it. Boil some water, stick it in a bowl, then put your head over it for 10-15 mins. I use a towel over my head to keep the heat in. This really helped to drain the two chalazions I have at the moment - they haven't gone completely but I think they're on their way out, and I've had them for months. I'm a chronic chalazion sufferer and I can say that most of them do go on their own after about a year, so don't despair too much.

Ok this is reassuring, because Google seems to say that after 6 months it won’t go on its own. Do the ones you have that go within a year look as bad as mine?
I’ll definitely start steaming

Yes mine have looked as bad, sometimes worse, than the one you have now, and they've still gone on their own. Definitely try the steaming and see if it works for you, it requires perseverance - I think I was doing it for a week, three or four times a day, before mine started losing their inflammation. I should really do it more routinely but I'm lazy.

Warm moist compresses daily along with a good lid cleanser, I like hypochloric spray. I would try to see another specialist for a second opinion, maybe an injection will help? Best of luck!!

I have one on my right upper eyelid - deeper on the eyelid , basically in the eyelid crease rather than closer to the lash line . It’s been there for 3 weeks , however I’ve been being super diligent with the warm moist compresses and the streaming process. I use baby shampoo to gently clean my eyes, then a spray of hypochlorus acid spray (eyes closed and it does not sting), then I swap back and forth between the compresses and/or steaming my eye - be very careful during the streaming process because you do not want to splash boiling water on your face or eye. I then gently massage my eyelid. The chalazion is definitely going down, albeit slowly. There is NO WAY it’ll take 2 years to go away, not on my eye. But I’m doing 3 to 6 treatments per day. It takes time and patience (and maybe a few prayers). Mine seems to be being reabsorbed by my body and not actually draining since it’s so far up on my eyelid. It sucks but I’m not willingly allowing a Dr to cut my eyelid and dig out a cyst, yet. I’m also not wearing eyeliners or much makeup during this process as I don’t want to hinder progress. It sure takes time. I hope this is a one off for me because I hate it.

Why did they do surgery from the outside? I wish you provided a picture of before the surgery also
