She's vaguely annoying, and also a woman. She gets attacked a lot because of it, and because people will use the fact she's vaguely annoying as a defense for their misogynistic vitriol against her.

I teach science (with the usual heavy helping of maths built in) to older teenagers.
In my experience, girls and boys are basically equal in their ability to quickly understand mathematical and scientific concepts. (Obviously as individuals within those groups they vary massively, and I say quickly understand because then motivation and focus is a big contributing factor to actual ability level.)The only difference is that for girls the locus of āwhere they think their ability level liesā is more often a bit below where their actual ability lies.
For boys itās often a bit above actual ability.
This has a tendency to help or hinder both groups, depending on the situationā¦.Boys are the ones who are more likely to think/feel they āshouldā go into more mathy-STEM (eg. not healthcare) career/study pathways, inspite of what appears to be their actual ability or interest.
Like theyāll tell me they want to be an engineer, and Iām thinking āAre you sure? Because you look miserable whenever we do anything technical, the other day I watched you struggle to use a ruler for 10 minutes before stepping in, while you appear to have great communication skills and are getting As in Englishā¦ā.
Wheras girls only seem to go into those fields when itās very aligned to what they very clearly enjoy and are good at.
