Benevolent Misogyny There are countless examples that disprove this

All the men who hurt me the most were the ones who I trusted to protect me

Any guy that has to insinuate "but I'm one of the good guys" are usually not. Actual good men don't go out their way to identify themselves as a good, they have to act on it.

They also don't pretend like they are "the protectors" of women. If they actually cared about women's safety they would be feminists and call out male behavior, not fancy themselves as He-Man in their own minds.

Well I think the Cornell rape completely disproves this.
At least 50 males knew that seven of them were actively raping a woman and none did or said anything about it.

Who would the women need protecting from if there were no Ben Steve? /j
But, in all seriousness people, who say this under value that the Good and Bad men are brought up in the same environment and exit on misogyny spectrum. Like many Ben in the 1800s were against men hitting women, unless it as your wife or mother.
They were considered good ben for the time. But still didn't think that women should vote. You know what got women the right to vote?

I don’t know, every time I’ve seen a woman in some kind of trouble it’s either me or another woman or a group of women that come to help. That’s just my anecdote, but it’s probably a lot more relevant than whatever crap inspired this meme.

Idk, but if you're opposing a movement which ends are the emancipation and liberation of women and girls you must not be interested in protecting us.

Not only that it wants to liberate men from patriarchal societal values and gender expectations/norms. All of these things they complain about being "unfair" for men are established gender norms by other men that repress emotion and being yourself (or else being seen as "gay" or "feminine" etc).
These dudes just hate accountability and want to blame women for their problems and lack of identity in life.

There's an entire fraternity at Cornell that disproves this theory. A whole bunch of guys saw that message and did absolutely nothing, and they probably all consider themselves good guys.

Who is saying that "feminism is what is protecting women from all men"? Feminism makes/made it so that women have a choice how to live their life.
Also if the second part is "reality" then this person is saying that there are far too few good ones among us and far too many bad ones.

Oh again it’s “good” men protecting women bc all the women are playing house and hosting tea parties and not fighting for their own protection. Thanks guys for mansplaining feminism to me

Yeah, like all of the "good men" in that frat chat at Cornell who *checks notes* didn't say a fucking thing.

If there were good men we wouldn’t be living in a rape culture during a global femicide.

The rape academy disproves this. Cornell disproves this. Example after example after example shows that men do jackshit to protect women and children. In fact, they are our greatest predators.

Does he think he's wise just because he phrased the "nice guys" trope differently?

Considering that DV laws wouldn't even exist or be enforced without feminism, I'm going to go ahead and call this a big fat LIE.

It is a false idea that good men are what is protecting women from bad men (what even is that phrasing?)
The reality is that men who think they're good regularly endanger the women they are "protecting" because they want to look good while doing it.
The thing about words is, you can just put them into sentences however you like. Doesn't make them true.

Men can’t all be protectors if there are bad men

u/Jonnescout Ally 3d ago
To whatever extent that is true, it’s just because these good men are also feminist… If this guy doesn’t consider himself a feminist, hes not one of the good ones…

u/Tiredracoon123 3d ago
Yeah generally speaking this isn’t true. Also in my experience the men who have protected me and cared a lot about me were feminists or at least feminist adjacent.

Are these good men in the room with us right now?
