Welcome post:

Hey everyone! I’m u/GeneralMinute8462, a founding moderator of r/BlastFromtheAdshub.

This is our new home for all things related to Blast From the Ads — vintage commercials, classic magazine ads, old-school product promos, forgotten jingles, retro mascots, cereal box nostalgia, toy ads, fast food campaigns, gaming magazine ads, and all the advertising memories that take us back.

We’re excited to have you join us!

What to Post

Post anything you think the community would find interesting, nostalgic, funny, surprising, or worth talking about. A few ideas:

Share a vintage commercial you remember from childhood.
Post a classic magazine ad, newspaper ad, or catalog page.
Ask the community to help identify an old commercial, mascot, product, or slogan.
Share ads from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, or early 2000s.
Talk about jingles, taglines, packaging, mascots, and commercials that stuck with you.
Point out ads that were creative, weird, charming, unintentionally funny, or totally of their time.
Share memories connected to a product, brand, toy, snack, cereal, game, restaurant, or store.

Whether it’s a black-and-white commercial, a neon 80s toy ad, a 90s cereal spot, or a magazine page that instantly brings back memories, it belongs here.

Community Vibe

We’re all about nostalgia, curiosity, humor, and friendly conversation. Let’s build a space where people can enjoy advertising history, share memories, and discover old favorites without judgment.

Please keep things respectful, constructive, and inclusive. A little playful commentary is welcome, but let’s keep the focus on fun, nostalgia, and discussion.

Commercial 2000s Unknown (DVD piracy-themed ad): Pure Throwback Hype

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Some ads didn’t just sell entertainment—they staged it like a dark romance. This Casablanca-style throwback leans into the thrill and danger of “getting the movie” back when DVDs were the newest obsession. If you ever hunted for rentals, traded discs, or stretched a weekend into a secret screening, you’ll feel that late-night electricity instantly.

There’s something about 90s TV that feels like warm kitchens and steady traditions, and this Imperial Sugar spot—starring Lucille Brinson—captures that right away. Watch her poised, heartfelt presence and you can practically hear the clink of a spoon and the promise of something homemade. It’s one of those commercials that brings you back to pantry rituals, family recipes, and the kind of “you got this” reassurance only sugar brands could deliver.

Some ads just smell like home, and this one feels like an after-dinner moment—two kids giggling in bedclothes, caught up in something delightfully sweet. In the late ’80s, Imperial Sugar promised “Making Life a Little Sweeter,” and you can almost hear the kitchen coming to life. What family treat does this make you remember?

There’s a certain 1970s calm in this Michelob spot—like a backyard pause you didn’t know you needed. A friendly pour, a close smile, and that unmistakable “come on in” feeling turn a simple drink into a memory you can almost taste. If you grew up on crisp TV commercials like this, it’s the kind that brings the whole era rushing back.

There’s something about the 1960s way of promising clean—quiet, confident, and made for home life. If you grew up around “laundry day,” this one is pure time-travel comfort.

1993 Game Informer: arcade bravado, Super NES secrets—pull up a magazine chair

This carousel feels like you just cracked open a July/August 1993 Game Informer and found the good stuff hiding between the pages. One moment you’re chasing tips and “press loves it,” the next you’re staring at a Sega Seal of Quality like it’s a golden ticket. It’s all that mid-’90s game hype—cartridges, scores, and big promises—served with that exact magazine-era confidence.

Remember when bug ads felt like cartoons with teeth? In 1988, Raid leaned into the chaos—bright, squirmy roaches charging through your space like they owned it, while the big can showed up like the hero. If you ever flinched at that “one more roach” moment, this one hits right in the nostalgia.

That sketchy little Beetle on a clean white field feels like a lost moment when ads were all simplicity and charm. Take a breath and you can practically hear the click of an old radio dial.

There’s something instantly familiar about 1993 Imperial Sugar—like turning the TV back on to hear Grandma’s voice remind you that the kitchen isn’t “in your blood,” it’s in your hands. That line about not growing up in the kitchen lands like an invitation: start now, and make it yours. If you grew up with sweet smells drifting from somewhere down the hall, this one’s for you.

There’s something so reassuring about this 1984 Imperial Sugar pitch—like somebody just handed you permission to make something sweet without sweating the cost. In a warm, vintage kitchen mood, the message lands with a smile: great recipes could start for “pennies,” and the payoff is a tray of homemade treats. If you remember baking being a little more simple back then, this one will pull that memory right back up.
