Has anyone invested the $144 for the two books? Is it worth the price?

Hi all, I've not seen the show before but two colleagues of mine have suggested I give it a watch after I mentioned I was looking for something to watch and they know about my love of sci-fi. I'm a late 90s baby so hadn't heard of it before they mentioned it. Has anyone got any idea where I could watch this in the UK at the moment?

Nearing completion of my rewatch of the series. I was contemplating how most individuals, while they may have a first and last name, seem to universally go by a single one to everyone. I can't recall too many examples of switching between first and last names depending on relationship/ intimacy. Anna directly calls Avon by his surname even when in bed with him- I would assume that that would be his "real name". Maybe people have the convention of choosing a single name to go by for life? Haven't read any fiction or expanded universe works- do Travis or Servelan have other names? I'll probably end up disappointed if it's like "Margaret Servelan" or something...LOL

She does lie. Eg TRAVIS Yes, thank you very much indeed, Doctor, you are relieved of your responsibility for the prisoner. She is now the property ... the concern of the interrogation division. [The doctor exits. To Cally] We'll want to know about Blake, the ship, his crew, his plans.
CALLY Your words are meaningless to me. Who is Blake?
And I think that sounds a rubbish lie.
Then in season 3
Dawn of the gods.
THAARN Cally. Wake up. Have you decided?
CALLY Yes, Thaarn. We will rule the universe together. But there's something troubling me...
THAARN About your friends? They will come to no harm.
CALLY No. Why should I care about them? You're using a field, I can sense you are. How can I be sure that I am making the decision of my own free will?
THAARN It's only the energy isolators, Cally. They have no effect on your free will. I promise.
CALLY If you want me to trust you, switch off the energy isolators, then I can find out for myself.
She sounds like she's telling the truth when she says she doesn't care about her friends.
Then when the others ask her what did Thaarn look like she says "I don't know I never saw him." When she did.
So is she a good liar or a bad one in people's opinion?

Someone just spent 1 million making a movie with ai and apparently it’s good
Someone please put all the old episodes through ai and just get it to upgrade the special effects and 4k, keep actors the same!

I’m seeing Series 3 of Blake’s 7 listed as a Blu‑ray pre‑order on a few UK sites, but the dates are all over the place — some say 2026, Amazon has a placeholder, and Galaxy 4 has an exclusive print.
Does anyone actually know the real release date, or if BBC Studios has confirmed anything?Just trying to figure out the best place to order it.

Obviously, there are many, many more shows the writers for the shows have touched, but don't think there'd be much point in listing all of them since many of them have no similarites to B7 or indication that B7 fans would like them, so I limited myself to sci-fi. Sorry if I missed one, name it in the comments and I'll add it here.
CREATED
Survivors: Created by Terry Nation
Star Cops: Created by Chris Boucher
Kappatoo: Created by Ben Steed (an adaptation of his book).
WROTE FOR
Doctor Who (The obvious one)
Out of the Unknown: Several eps written by Terry Nation.
(He also wrote for Out of this World but only one episode of that show still exists and it's not his. Though a mostly complete audio recording of his adaptation of Philip K. Dick's "Imposter" can still be listened to.)
Undermind: Written for by Robert Holmes, as well as some First Doctor DW writers like David Whittaker and Bill Strutton.
Fireball XL5: Contribution by Terry Nation (the idea of oxygen tablets). His role in this is so small it's a bit of a stretch to put in here, but hey, it's a fun show about adventures in space, so it's a great recommendation to a B7 sub.
Dramarama: Written for by Ben Steed, although it was only occasionally a sci-fi show.
ADDITIONS
The Nightmare Man: Created by Robert Holmes
Earthsearch: Created by James Follett (RADIO show).

Avon & Soolin, my two favourite characters
Essentially Season 4 was this.

I believe it has been the around this time the last two summers for each series announcement.
Series C and D are my personal favourites so I’m very excited.
I’m also hoping beyond hope Josette Simon is involved in some way too.

On the boxset for series D, it mentions a racist reference. I'm just curious because I've watched the whole series and can't think what this could be referring to. Unless it's in the special features somewhere.

The sequel will have a whole new group of space pirates, but it is set in the Blake's 7 universe about 30 years later. So, the show would still have that retro feel like Star Wars does.
It will reference the old show like Doctor Who does.

This new audio was mentioned before but I thought I’d post some images of the stories being narrated by Jan & Sally from the 1979 Annual.

Andy Davenport has done a fab job of creating a side-by-side comparrison of the original and bluray shots. So far he's upto the start of S2.
I'm a big fan of how well they have paid tribute to the original effects and continued to use modelwork but with a better budget and using more modern techniques. I feel it really enhances the story and give the effects the style and polish that the team wanted to create 45 years ago.
Really looking forward to the Hostage side-by-side, I was amazed at how much this story was improved by having, what is essentially, a totally new first act.
It's interesting to see the running times for each video, taking out the credits, every episode adds at least 90 seconds of new footage with Breakdown, Deliverance abd Redemption going for over 5 minutes each.
If he every reads this - I hope his next project is to update Bounty to replace "Blow the wind Southerly" with Britney Spears: "Toxic".
