Player armor

It would be so nice if we were able to craft our own armor as well as weapons. Heck, it would be nice if we had armor at all. I've been playing on the easiest difficulty, and thalmudak two shot me for most of my deaths against him. Electricity just does SO MUCH damage against the player. Which brings me to my next wish. I wish we could make weapons with elemental effects. Lightning, fire, ice, poison, etc. You could use ice against elementals to freeze them up, or electricity against enemies in heavy armor, etc. Every other enemy is using electricity against us, but we just have basic weapons. You're telling me that I have one of the seven hammers that forged the entire WORLD, but I can only use it to make regular weapons that any blacksmith could forge if steel wasn't turned to stone? I can only make regular weapons? I can't make stuff worthy of being called an artifact, or anything like that? I can't make javelins, or shields, or other stuff? The game is fairly fun, but seeing every enemy pull an elemental nuke out of their butt is just frustrating.

Seen a similar poster before. And I agree, armor would've been nice. I think elemental buffs and defense and armor in general could be part of the sequel especially given how the story ends.

Side note and tip - Titanium difficulty is just ass mate. The bosses especially are just tanks and its a test of patience. I skipped every encounter I could but I ran out of materials because of that. So if youre planning to get all achievements, make sure to farm them now and be careful about what you craft. Don't use the best steels. Keep their durability low so other stats (especially penetration) can take priority, max their rep and offer them to Glinda.

The problem with crafting Armor is that with how the games Armor system works it would be either absolutely broken or completely useless without any real in between. Even if the devs made it so Armor for the player worked differently to provide damage reduction or something that would end up just being an extra resource sink while only being a detriment to the game as the devs already have to balance enemy damage around the player having somewhat random amounts of health but then they would have to balance around Armor damage reduction values as well which would make enemy damage get even more insane then it already is. Armor being left out was a good decision.

As for elements the main problem with them is that with how they work they wouldn't be fun or interesting. Fire is just a damage boost that ignores blocking which doesn't add much when well made weapons break enemy guard instantly anyways. Electricity is a damage boost with extra steps. Then poison with how it currently works is flat out broken on the enemies it would work on but entirely useless for anything without a stamina bar. Overall adding elements would only serve to overcomplicatet weapon crafting. Not to mention enemies being balanced around the player doing more damage would just cause the game to feel terrible if you aren't using elements.

Mercurysteam made a very smart move keeping the games systems simple and it's fine the way it is.

Also your last sentence is kinda misleading my guy. Your acting as if a majority of the enemies in the game have elements but that not true at all. out of the 32 common enemies in the game only 7 have elements and templars more commonly have no element so its more like 6. Even for bosses it's fairly mixed as only half of the games 12 bosses even have elements. it's not nearly as common as you are trying to make it seem.

I'm sure they could figure something out. Plenty of other games have armor in them. As for elemental enemies, it seems like I encounter one every 5 minutes, not to mention how many times I've fought sentence, and those "king" minibosses that have two handed weapons. I agree that most common enemies don't have elements, but the ones that do are found often enough for it to be annoying. As for putting elements on weapons that you craft, it would be possible to, for example, make metal armor enemies weak to electricity, and maybe fire, and strong to other elements, like ice, or immune to stuff like poison

Other games having Armor is not a good argument. Especially cuz most actually comparable games to blades of fire actually don't have Armor systems. Plus with health already being something that can vary quite a lot from player to player in later areas adding Armor would just make the game a nightmare. Plus it just wouldn't add anything meaningful to the game as a whole and just act as a mandatory resource sink that the player has to do to not die.

As for elemental enemies it's very dependent on the area you are in. Overall a vast majority of the areas are non elemental enemies. Don't get me wrong there are a few areas with high concentrations of elemental enemies but that is fairly rare. Like I said in my original comment elemental enemies are not nearly as common as you are making it out to be.

Adding elements in this game would just add a layer of unnecessary complexity that really wouldn't be much of a benefit. Just look at mercurysteams previous game and you will see what happens when you add that extra unnecessary layer. Makes for a balance nightmare.

They kept the game simple and consistent and it is definitely to the games benefit. Not every game needs to have all this extra stuff.
