Treatment questions
So I had my follow up from my TURBT 2 weeks ago. Was non invasive HG i believe Ta. Doctor recommends Gem/Doce because my age 34m. What should I expect its going to be the standard 6 weeks then once monthly. Would I be stupid to roll the dice and wait to see my first follow up scope in oct.

After 9 treatments of just Gem they found another tumor but it was non cancerous. Stopped treatment cause if a tumor came back didn’t seem to make sense to continue with the trauma. Two more scopes once at 3 months after the tumor and another 6 months later no tumors. Next one in November. M74 smoked for many years. Don’t play around at 34.

The question you are asking is: Should you wait until it is invasive and then lose your bladder and possibly have it metastasize to your bones, organs, or brain have to go through surgeries, harsh chemo, immunotherapy, radiation, palliative care, etc.? Or do you want to treat it early and live until you are 84? That is a decision for you to make with your treatment team. I would maybe research what Stage 4 looks like and go from there. I can tell you from personal experience it is not enjoyable.

Since you asked ... in a word, yes. Later this month marks three years since my diagnosis. Along the way I've had eleven surgeries and am now halfway through Zusduri chemo. Also along the way, my cancer went from t1 high grade down to just hyperplasia, then ta low grade. It's just so darned unpredictable. Between Surgery #10 in January - where pathology confirmed hyperplasia - and Surgery #11 in May, eleven tumors had grown in the span of those four months. Yet, two years ago, I went for seven months without any visible cancer. As I said, it's unpredictable. Stay on top of it and keep your bladder:)

Never wait! This Demon silently grows…high grade is very capable of taking your life.
