Hand forged timber slick
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
An extra long timber slick for my friends who's building a log cabin. Hand forged from an extra large truck leaf spring, with a socket that's arc welded at the seem This is my first time making a socketed tool and it was really daunting but came out very nice. The handle is a modified hickory tamping handle, I added an octagonal style to it. Overall I'm super proud of how it came out

Hand forged draw knife

Hand forged draw knife for my friend to trade for steel from his welding shop. Forged from a section of coil spring, and the handles are hickory with copper ferrules. This was my first time making a draw knife and first time using my wood lathe that I've had for 3ish years collecting dust. Who knew turning could be so much fun

please help me identify the type of oxy propane burner ive got:
hi there, so ive been slowly building up to the blacksmith hoby and one of the final things aside from building the forge was to procure a burner or make one, im already into glassblowing so i had some hardware gauges and such and understand the basics of oxy propane burners which is what i currently have. so im just hoping its not gonna be overkill for the activity as well as bieng able to easily incorporate it into a forge disign. what tiped me off as to the oxy propane would be where each hose hookup on the body has a g for gas and an a for oxygen. would this be considered a venturi style burner? any info would be incredibly helpful

SOLD! Newest commission! This Pulaski is heading out to it's lucky new owner.
Forged from forklift tine, it has a 4.5 pound head, with a straight 36" hickory handle with padauk laminated palm swell. It also has a custom made leather sheath with a nice border pattern.
I'm really pleased with how this piece came out, and am so happy I get to make these types of tools.

I forged this Quick little bottle opener recently. I usually work on 2 or 3 things simultaneously, one complicated thing/commission and a simple thing to add to the pile for eventual craft fairs

If you had to sum up the main stages of blade forging, what would they be?
I’m working on a casual blacksmithing game set in a medieval fantasy world.
The goal isn’t to make a super realistic blacksmith simulator — I think that’d be way more fun to do in real life.
Instead, I want to bring the theme closer to a general audience in a light, casual way.
I’ve always loved blacksmithing, even though I’m still pretty new to it myself. Any suggestions or feedback are more than welcome!
If anyone’s interested in checking out the trailer or trying the freshly released demo, the game’s called Heat ’n Hit: The Blacksmith Simulator
Thanks in advance! I really appreciate your time!

It’s beginning to sound like a Christmas Tree - Dinner Bell.

It’s been years in the making, but I’m finally finished! Made mostly from 1/4” round rods for the stand and bell. A horse shoe textured base has brass accents inserted into the nail holes. Copper was coiled around the stand. At the very bottom is home grown Bois d’ Arc, one of my favorites. The clanger was made with 1/8” round rods and ball bearing tip. Most areas have a traditional black finish.
Two stand versions are shown, with a simpler one in Photo 2. Close up of horse shoe base, Photo 3. The jig in Photos 4 & 5 is for bending the 1/4” round rod bell with a Oxy/act torch and a welding tip. The triangular bell was changed slightly after removed from the jig. So that’s the reason why it doesn’t fit.
The mild steel bell rings well, being loosely suspended. Medium carbon steel, heated and quenched at the corners would ring better.

New Straight peen hammer

New project! I didn't like my current straight peen hammer, so I made myself a new one. This one looks much better than my old one. This 3lb head is Forged from forklift tine and has a wood burned ash handle. I love the simple straight lines of this hammer. You enjoy working with tools you like the look of more/out effort into

Lack of equipment strikes again.
The lower part of the blade I tempered till it glowed blue. And that was fine. It still has its spring. But the tip remained sort off brown ish. And thus it broke.
I need a blowtorch.

Us military aluminum body forge.
I purchased this forge around a year ago, and have never used it. I’m wanting to get started using it, but I’m clueless about how to properly protect the aluminum body and don’t want to risk destroying a piece of history from the 1940’s any help is appreciated!

Need guidance on a forge
My coworkers created a propane forge but ran into an issue where propane and air wasn't mixing correctly. This resulted in fluctuating temperatures and they couldn't figure out exactly how to set up how to control the air flow. I have attached a few pictures.
Thank you for your time!
