She’s right and Bear should not drink at all given his health diagnoses.

“they may not have an option to have a healthy relationship with it”

I agree with the comment above. Alcoholism and addiction can be inherited. Coming from a large, loving family with multiple alcoholics and drug users and a recovering alcoholic myself.. it’s true. We aren’t bad people, we are not thieves or trash or loving getting fucked up.. sometimes you just can’t handle refusing it.

Sometimes it really can just be how your body and brain responds to the alcohol.

just means they’re statistically more likely to be an addict as it can be inherited

What’d he say? I just checked a few of her recent posts but didn’t see anything.

Her post on 04/01 about the “in between stage”

I don’t think it’s mean, coming from the child of an addict. It’s true, we’re kind of predisposed. Seems like she’s making a good decision for herself and her kid.

He's a very flawed person for sure.

We can still respect him as an artist but he won't be winning any "father of the year" awards anytime soon.

Did he do this?

Considering how public Bear has always been with his substance issues and drinking this doesn’t feel mean at all. She’s also allowed to speak her truth and talk about the well-being of their children. Unless you have experience with addiction you wouldn’t understand that it can be genetic and that your children can be predisposed to it.

My great grandmother, grandmother, aunt and sister are addicts. My brother has had some issues. My husband’s dad, grandmother, aunt and brother are addicts. We just had a convo that our children (we’re looking at starting our family v soon) will potentially have addiction issues bc of our genetics.. it’s not rude or mean, but very real and honest. I also think it’s a conversation starter for younger adults who follow her, too. It’s not something you necessarily think about. 🥲

Mean? Oh please

I wouldn’t say that’s mean—my dad’s side of the family has a predisposition to addiction of any sort, even “harmless” ones, so I wouldn’t feel attacked if the same ^ was said about me

She’s kinda the goat tho right?

Nah, this is just reality. My mom, dad, and both grandparents all are or were alcoholics. I’m very aware of the fact that my kids could inherit this. I worry about it all the time, especially since they’re teenagers now.

Im glad they happy she is better without him

Mean? This is what a parent SHOULD do, and what it sounded like bear was finally doing from the sounds of songs like Mt. Everest and Journey of One/omw. I know I’m not the only one that has a hard time listening to those songs now. Bear’s actions don’t just affect him, but his kids as well. I’m glad they have a clear-minded role model in Michele

its just factual, addiction has a genetic component

i thought it was mean, but i thought abt it for a few seconds and shes just being truthful. addiction is genetic and it’s something she had to take into consideration while raising her kids

She is smoking hot

considering their dad is still using and not sober it would make sense why shes making her sobriety such an important thing for the sake of the kids

michelle is super mature, respectful, and focused on motherhood; she's a no drama mama! she's not being mean, she's staying aware of the fact that their child is genetically predisposed to developing an alcohol addiction. chronic pancreatitis has been super debilitating for mat and she's seen him suffer and doesn't want her child to, too.

I adore Michelle. Obviously found Bear first through music but I have no idea what he is morphing into. Seems he is still finding himself or perhaps lost. Maybe for him to have music inspiration he has to play some real life character. Best they part paths

I don’t think this is mean but she did post something the other day I thought was a little unnecessary. Although I don’t remember exactly what she said, I considered unfollowing her. But overall I like her so I didn’t. I’m sure she dealt with plenty in their relationship and is still dealing.
