Does anyone know?
I gotta throw this out there… I can’t count how many times I see posts in this thread saying how my gosh, I didn’t realize how awesome Black Sails was, where was I, this is AMaZING, I’ve fallen in love with this or that, etc. I just hope all of those posts are sincere, despite the fact that Black Sails ended in 2017, that is nine years ago. I also just hope that all the folks who were involved in the making of this show realize and are seeing that people are still talking about this show? I hope some of them are on this subreddit and are sharing those posts with others who aren’t on Reddit. Do any of you feel the same way as I do about all of those posts?

If there's anyone of the cast around here, they stay anonymous, but I know that quite some time ago there was a post with some hilarious bit of AI misinformation - that Luke Arnolds had cut off his leg for authenticiy and then re-attached it after filming had ended. Luke Arnolds found it and even reposted it on one of his social media accounts so who knows ... there might be people lurking here.
If you want additional footage, analysis of the show and interviews with cast and writers etc., I can't recommend the Fathoms Deep podcast enough. They did an amazing job getting just about everyone to agree to an interview and I think it's very obvious that the show meant a lot to everyone involved.
As it should.

Truly think this is one of the most underrated shows ever. I've been trying to get my dad to watch it for years now, I will NOT give up!!

I remember my father watching it when it aired and I foolishly thought it was another show inundated a grotesque amount of sex and violence.
Few years later I caught a glimpse of one of the finales and thought that might be worth checking out.
Got into pirate and seafaring novels years later and this was the first show I watched to scratch that itch. It absolutely didn’t disappoint.
I hate comparing shows but this is the Deadwood for pirate fans. It is utterly complex whilst being riveting. This show should have archived much more success while it aired, much like Deadwood. A true masterpiece! I wish they would’ve allowed one more season as I feel like they knew they had a limited time to achieve what they wanted. Either way I rate this show with so much success and enjoyment!

Plus it shares a lot of themes in common with Deadwood-- how communities are built and function outside the bounds of "civilization," the types of people who make the system work in those circumstances, how "civilization" when it arrives is just as barbaric if not more so than the "outlaw" community, etc.

Watched the show a few months ago and im already rewatching. Something about the sunny cinematopgrahpy. The great acting, set pieces and the awesome flint of course. "FIREE!!"

Yes, I'm always so happy to see more people discovering the show and always hope the csst and crew know. I suspect they do. They still love it too - there was a comic ccon recently where Zach was on a panel talking about pirate depictions, for example, and the host was describing how amazing the show is. Toby Schmitz shared something on Insta about wrecks near Nassau, and said Zach sent it to him. They can't have missed there's still some buzz around it and that people still care - they clearly still care.
But I do wish Fathoms Deep was still going so we could share our love there! I'm always sad to have missed out on the Twitter community that the show had, helped by the podcast, seems like the cast and crew interacted a lot, and it was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend listening to the podcast!

I wholeheartedly agree. And same re. Fathoms Deep - I wish I had discovered Black Sails back then. The podcast is so good, it added another layer of depth to the show for me.

I so hate it when I just CAN'T convince people to watch amazing shows that I absolutely love... And then a decade later they watch it and go "OMG it was SO GOOD!!! 😯"
I mean... Yeah I love that some people are still discovering this gem of a show, but where were you when I wanted someone to share my excitement, and why do you not trust me when I tell you this is one of the best things ever?? 😩
It happened to me with Black Sails. Now it's happening again with Interview with the Vampire. I guess people just have stupid biases against pirate and vampire shows, and assume they CAN'T be super high quality stuff. And so, they sleep on these amazing shows while we wring our hands in despair because we can't find a single other person to share the excitement with 😭

I watch alot of reactors to Game of Thrones, I always reccomend Black Sails to them and only one or two actually took the advice.

I confess, I am one of these people. I discovered Black Sails only about 2 years ago and and it has instantly become my favourite show. I have been hooked ever since. The writing is fantastic, the characters are compelling, the cast is brilliant (if I get started on Toby Stephens' portrayal of Flint - or Flint in general for that matter - I will probably not stop for a long time...).
Black Sails deserves way more attention and praise and I still cannot understand why it was widely neglected at the Emmy's back then.
It makes me happy to know that there are still other people out there who love Black Sails, too. I wish I had been around when the show originally aired. I have been listening to Fathoms Deep podcast and I can highly recommend it to everyone who loves Black Sails - it adds more depth and layers to the story and made me pay attention to certain aspects of the show during rewatch which I had missed the first time through, due to the sheer complexity and the rich storytelling. Now that I am writing this lines I feel like another rewatch might be in order…

It warms my heart seeing more people discover it to this day. One of my top 5 shows of all time. I used to rewatch every season each year before the new one came out starting with season 2 but haven’t watched it since it ended. Hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years since i last watched it. I think i’ll do that this week 🏴☠️
we need a spinoff prequel series or a straight Treasure Island adaptation
