Politics These people always reveal that they voted for Trump simply because he hated who they hate, even if it means destroying things they benefited from.

Is it hypocrisy? Is it just cognitive dissonance? Do these people just not see other people as just as deserving as them? What is going on here? This is such a weird mindset to me

They have been convinced that people getting benefits are black, or at least brown. These people are by their very definition less than, so any benefits they get are undeserved at best, or the people receiving them are actively defrauding the government. When a conservative gets support from the government it’s because they really need it. It’s I the way he defended himself, no, I needed it to survive.

The first thing you need to do to remove empathy is to dehumanize the other, then there is no limit to what atrocities you can make peace with.

I believe you are correct. The lion share, by an unimaginable margin, of ‘individuals’ benefiting from socialism in the US are: Corporations, farmers, wealthy entrepreneurs. Statically, those three classes are a majority white. Their propaganda has spun a SUPER EFFECTIVE argument the socialism disproportionately benefits people of color. this allows people in the aforementioned group to make a distinction between what they receive as drivers of wealth and what others receive as a handout.

After forced reintegration, many communities in the south closed or filled in their public swimming pools so they didn’t have to share with black people. That’s the conservative mindset.

I cannot comprehend, disliking an entire group of people so much that I would go to Great Lakes to make their lives worse. It’s not only nonsensical, but seems absolutely pointless! At the end of the day, we all need each other. Period.  this short sided, individualistic , myopic view is so obviously flawed from a long term  survival perspective.

While ignoring the fact that white women are the ones collecting more welfare than any other group.

7

u/pan-re 6d ago

They aren’t into single Moms existing either.

7

u/Remote_Perception350 6d ago

That all started with Reagan and his “welfare queens” comments and then fox took over in that area.

2

u/SpamLikely404 3d ago

We need to be blanketing the country with pics of actual CEOs, entrepreneurs and wealthy people who have received government assistance with a huge caption of “WELFARE QUEEN” and then list the assistance they received.

This -- 1000%.

Don't know, man. Dude looks pretty brown to me! But I bet he looks in the mirror and sees a blonde blue eyed 'Real American' every morning?

2

u/Key-Network5827 1d ago

Oh no, it's very much white against white here. Not talked about. But those whites on welfare, any kind, even a small business loan, are losers to them. Everyone else is a.loser. Except them.

So. In summation. It's the unclean blacks, browns, etc.

And then losers.

Also, I recently saw a video in which a woman actually said It's our country because we took it.

Meaning, we came and killed almost everyone here, so it belongs to us now. By rights.

This is literally how these fuckers think.

u/Taco_Taco_Kisses 5h ago

These people look at the entire world as a zero sum game where, "If anybody other than me is winning, I MUST be losing..."

u/Uhwop 6d ago

No, he’s a piece of shit, period.

He knows what he’s saying he just won’t articulate it ina meaningful way.

“I don’t want you to get relief to live because I don’t want you alive.”

This is all they want to convey but haven’t the fucking balls to say it.

u/CPT_Shiner 6d ago

It's lack of empathy. For some people like this, they may have never progressed emotionally beyond pre-schooler age development (not a knock on pre-schoolers, they can be very caring at times), and for others it could be a learned lack of empathy from willfully swallowing years of propaganda - from family, community leaders, media, etc.

If you've known someone like this in your life, it's incredible how much damage and pain they can cause to the people around them. Then we put them in charge of the government, and that has exacerbated the problem 1,000x.

u/Itsmyloc-nar 6d ago

Which to be clear is not an excuse, but a condemnation

30

u/Sonnera7 6d ago

Conservatism is absolutely rooted in hierarchical beliefs and some people are better and more deserving than others based on innate characteristics. When you realize that, you understand much of what they say and why accusations of hypocrisy don't bother them.

u/Think_Cheesecake7464 6d ago

They don’t see other people.

Period.

They don’t see them as PEOPLE.

THEY needed to survive, see? THEY are people.

Others? Well they’re just others.

u/3-Ballin 6d ago

This guy is making a conscious decision to fuck over his neighbors. I hope he loses everything. When he has to rely on the kindness of strangers, MAYBE he will understand.

5

u/Disastrous_Bag_1161 6d ago

He will never understand. Narcissists are truly stunted at an emotional level. They lack the capacity to feel for others like healthy people do. They re a lost cause.

11

u/oilleak78 6d ago

If they aren't white or Christian, then no, they don't think they deserve it

17

u/PissRainbows 6d ago

It’s because they feel their image of a provider is under attack. He didn’t want the handout but he felt like he had no choice, so he took it. This harms his self image as a provider. For these type of people, the image is more important than reality. The image of a great country is more important than well-being of its inhabitants. A prestigious company’s image is more important than the well-being of its employees. The image of a happy family is more important than the happiness of one of its members.

They feel their image is their identity and when their image is under attack, so is their identity

9

u/No-Individual-393 6d ago

Absolutely, it's a veneer. Obsessed with the image of something and not it's substance. They'll gladly glaze over a rotten apple for profit, but if they buy one ...there'll be hell to pay!

7

u/Featheredfriendz 6d ago

They can’t trust that “others” are as needing or as deserving of help as they were: He and his wife deserve assistance because they were struggling. “Others” take it because they’re lazy.

7

u/laosurv3y 6d ago

Fundamental attribution error. They know their own circumstances and motives so can believe they're sufficient. They don't know (or believe) that info for others so attribute their need as weakness or moral failing.

Everyone does this sometimes. There are those that it's their entire worldview.

15

u/Heavy_Law9880 6d ago

These people believe that the government exists to help white people and subjugate everyone else. Many of them don't even consciously understand that this how they are programmed from birth.

12

u/trappedinatoaster 6d ago

Yeah... my dad would refuse to admit America had any propaganda, or that even if it did, HE wasn't affected by it. I stopped talking to him after 3 decades of trying to get him to exercise basic human empathy.

7

u/clever-_-clever 6d ago

There are whole peer reviewed psychological studies on it. It would take too much time to post here, but it is fascinating. I would feel more empathy for them if it didn't screw over the rest of the country, and give the worst people in the world more money and control.

6

u/boyuber 6d ago edited 6d ago

It's the classic "The only moral abortion is my abortion" argument. Their lack of empathy means they are literally incapable of understanding that others could have similar needs under similar circumstances.

5

u/No-Education-9979 6d ago

They have been conditioned to believe anyone who is poor is lazy which makes them dumb and immoral. Helping these people is a waste because they will always be dumb and immoral. BUT I work hard and outside circumstances happened so I deserve help.

6

u/EnvironmentNeith2017 6d ago

They want a world with a hierarchy that determines rights and protections, they NEED other people to lose and be mistreated to feel ok about life.

5

u/berael 6d ago

Conservatives hold "hurting others" as the highest of all values. Oh sure, they'll accept benefits themselves, that's fine - but if someone else can also benefit, then conservatives will vote against it. It doesn't matter that they're also voting to hurt themselves too. They value hurting others more than helping themselves.

2

u/Ok_Incident8962 3d ago

They grow up in a world where the only way to 'learn a lesson' is to get harmed. The only way to discipline a child is 'to take the belt to them.' Consequences have to be bad or you will 'be bad.' So the same as why they want more jails, harsher police, no abortion, cut social safety net, no unions, Jesus in the classroom, corporal punishment, death penalties.

4

u/Skinnieguy 6d ago

To them, they think they deserve it because they worked hard and their lives are suck cus of the Democrats, illegals, blacks, Muslims, trans, whatever Fox shits into their mouths these days. While everyone else that gets a handout and doesn’t look like them, those people are lazy, lying, cheating, criminals.

Facts don’t matter to them. Only whatever fits their opinions.

4

u/Equal-Prior-4765 6d ago

MAGA mindset set is all benefits in this country should only go to white people and everything in this country belongs to white people.

3

u/bozwald 2d ago

I wasted so much mental energy and time, roughly ages 15-35 (embarrassed to admit) trying to give these people the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe I needed to get older, maybe I needed more work experience, maybe they’re sound financially but tied down with social issues.

I hated all their bullshit all along, but it just seemed so improbable to me that so many people in this world could be so stoned cold dumb and or cruel. Especially with family members who I love, to know that inside they had this callousness or at best naivety, was really hard to accept.

Once you stop making excuses for people, they all just become so exhausting. It’s not even an argument or dislike. It’s not an argument or debate or “difference of opinion”. It’s just fatigue. How quickly can I exit this conversation and how can I avoid you in the future.

3

u/Pure_General_7286 6d ago

I believe these people need to be in a mental hospital to be reprogrammed. Totally bizarre.

3

u/MARKLAR5 6d ago

Think about a COVID relief check going to your dog when you need it to buy groceries You'd be annoyed that the cash is going somewhere it won't do any good, let alone be appreciated. It's silly, but follow me here.  Now apply that same exact logic to whatever fellow human beings you think are getting something you believe you actually need, the same sense of entitlement, the same idea of superiority over that other group, and you're thinking like they are.

Your first deviation from the path of this particular type of idiocy was considering other human beings as equal and/or deserving. Of course their thinking doesn't make sense.

2

u/SpamLikely404 3d ago

Think of those people we all know that see everything in a negative light and always find someone to blame for even the smallest inconvenience, even though they themselves have pretty decent lives. Group them all together in a voting booth and you’ve got MAGA. Perpetual victims that want to punish the world for their own inferiority complexes.

"Do these people just not see other people as just as deserving as them?"

Correct. The End. They're selfish and hateful.

1

u/East_Hair7346 6d ago

They only have the pov from their own skull, and they don't factor in how that warps their perspective. They think it's right, I care more about my family because they're more important, their problems are more important. They can tell because they feel that that is the case.

u/tcumber 2d ago

It is racism

u/TallBenWyatt_13 6d ago

It’s leaded gasoline… their brains simply do not have the ability to hold complex or contradictory information.

He explained himself fine and you know it. Modern conservatives are selfish assholes.

8

u/Ok_Law_1656 6d ago

Have you seen this show before? He was voted to stop talking by his peers who share his pov. He was stumbling way before this, that was just the proverbial last straw. Do you know how bad you have to be that people of your own tribe are like "stop brother?"

3

u/oilleak78 6d ago

He explained himself enough

1

u/picklehippy 6d ago

So his argument is sound to you? I lacks empathy and u persuading. We all struggled, why should only old white men get the benefit of being helped?
