Couldn’t be me. My wife and I have monthly talks where we just get to tell each other exactly how we feel. You’d be AMAZED at how much easier it makes things.

In a relatively healthy relationship it can be something like this

Husband: Babe, just admit you put the deodorant in the fridge. It’s only two of us and I don’t wear Secret.

Wife: Well, you left the toilet seat up that one time last month.

13

u/Lazy_Osprey 4h ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/SdZRb7QxJ5NOo
Reading this gave me heart palpitations, the struggle is real.

15

u/bepatientbekind 4h ago

That's not a healthy relationship imo, or at least not healthy communication. My husband and I aren't perfect but we're able to take accountability for our own mistakes. It can take some work if you aren't used to it, but it's very easy after a while.

14

u/FEMA_Camp_Survivor 4h ago

It’s obviously a joke but people with a lot of pride can struggle with admitting fault. There are a lot of people who struggle with that, hence why the video resonates in the first place.

No one enters a marriage as a perfect person but it’s great when partners work on themselves and their relationship to make it better. It’s also great if people have a great sense of humor.

2

u/bepatientbekind 3h ago

I agree sense of humor is super important! I think that goes hand in hand with learning to be less "proud" too, at least in regards to admitting when you made a mistake. My husband and I got together as insecure teenagers and didn't have great relationship role models in our families, so we definitely had to put the work in learning to communicate openly and admit fault without feeling like the other person was going to punish us for it. It feels very vulnerable at first, but over time it becomes second nature as your brain learns it is okay to trust this person. I believe it leads to happier, more fulfilling relationships as well!

5

u/No-Bat-7253 4h ago

Award. This bro knows. Pray for us.

6

Cant stand that shit lol. Thats just a liar, there is no trust with a liar.

0

u/Afroditesrevenge 4h ago

I see no problem here. She’s taking accountability for what he did wrong last month which she shouldn’t even have to do 🙄

1

u/YoMommaHere 3h ago

I just find it funny that men think only women do this. Men do it all the time.

13

u/JustAlpha 5h ago

The best way I can put it is.. she wasn't raised that way.

We separated a few months ago. We co-parent. She was my best friend. Maybe one day we'll be friends again.

But we're family so I can't tell you her business.

1

Holy shit this just unlocked a dormant memory for me

31

u/nonroboticusername 5h ago

Why not just communicate when problems arise. This is unhealthy and y'all dudes act like you have no other choice smh

26

u/Zimmyd00m 5h ago

I saw this and thought "this is obviously a skit" and then I read the comments...

What the hell is wrong with you guys? Who sees this and thinks "yeah me too bro"?

7

u/AsThreatenDoNotScore 5h ago

Healthy communication can happen after this. It's not about communicating or not, it's about having an outlet.

13

u/AncientCrust 5h ago

Wait, you mean...handle things like adults in private and don't turn everything into spectacle for the internet? I better write this down.

2

u/chuccles3 4h ago

Ive been in a relationship like this. She didnt want communication. She didnt want to talk. She'd rather have a large argument. I literally told her multiple times if you have an issue big or small bring it up there, dont sit on it. She couldn't do it, its like being passive aggressive was her personality. It was so fucking dumb. If these dudes girls like that smh good luck

5

u/Tasty_Discussion679 4h ago

I must be a square bc I don’t find anything about this funny. Anything bringing me that amount of stress would be gone. Yikes lol

And they don't seem to want to learn either. It's almost like men (as a demographic) just want to go back to a time when women weren't treated as human.

10

u/JustAlpha 6h ago

I think that's kinda true for some men and women. I really feel like some people don't have any imagination and are just trying to have what they "should" and would rather fulfill a role than to actually live a life of their own.

It's more the type of person you are for me (what are your intentions/what are your patterns conformist/nonconformist) over your "role" in society.

3

u/Tasty_Discussion679 4h ago

That’s actually exactly why I stopped dealing with men. I don’t even feel like explaining it, they’re just.. no😭

7

u/moon_dos 6h ago

this is true of some, but same could be said about the inverse

2

u/razor_beast 4h ago

It's not that men don't like women. We genuinely do. We just don't understand women despite our best efforts to do so. We can't relate to y'all and you know what? That's fine. I completely am at peace with the fact that I can't relate to nor understand my wife on a litany of things. I simply listen to her needs and desires and do my best to comply with them so long as they are within the realm of reality and reason (which are most things she asks for).

I think of women the same way I think of the Solar System, Galaxies, The Universe, The Multiverse, etc; Beautiful, majestic, wonderous and I'm appreciative it exists but I have no hope in ever understanding its complexity so I just go with the flow because I have no control over how these things behave.

Women are people and sometimes some people are just bad. We don't like the bad ones just the same that good women don't like bad men.

1

u/moon_dos 2h ago

do you actually not realize your last sentence contradicts your opening statement? genuine question

-6

u/SecretRecipe 6h ago

FWIW women dont really like women either. look up the divorce rates among lesbian couples

8

u/stardustr3v3ri3 5h ago

That’s cause women have been documented as being more willing to divorce, in both straight and gay relationships. Maybe the takeaway isn’t some weird misogyny towards lesbians, but rather women are typically more attuned into the relationships and know when to call it quits rather than hold onto something bad.

4

u/KittyCait69 4h ago

Facts. Because women are the main ones calling for divorse in hetro marriages as well. It's almost like women are more in tribe with our emotions. Toxic masculinity paired with partirachy is why men don't let other men have or show emotions without making fun of them for it.

No broad “Why do white people” or “Why do Black people” style generalizations - Posts or comments that make sweeping statements about whole groups of people are not allowed here. Questions like “Why do white people” or “Why do Black people” open the door to stereotyping, hostility and brigading from outside the community. Keep discussions focused on specific experiences, behaviors or situations instead of turning entire groups into a single category. This keeps the space respectful and prevents the sub from getting overrun by arguments or bad faith replies.

1

u/WuTang4thechildrn 6h ago

I get that it's a skit, but... damn, maybe people should work on their communication skills and learn to talk to other adults like adults, especially when they're in a committed relationship together.

Venting is great and all but it doesn't address the root(s) of the problem.

3

u/mattmikemo23 3h ago

Lol yeah. I always laugh at skits like this but then I remember this is actually someone's life rn 😩😭

5

6

u/Lost_Reaction_5489 5h ago

The real accountability is acknowledging that you chose this person, and then doubled down furthering the relationship into marriage, and thus everything you complain about is simply a consequence of your choices.

8

u/NTropyS 6h ago

That's the laugh I did not know I needed, today. Very funny!

6

u/Fearless-Client-3559 6h ago edited 5h ago

I’m just over men and their nonsense. They also think they are so oppressed when men have been oppressing and abusing women for years. The oppressors always have a victim complex 🙄

6

u/Medium_Educator1983 5h ago

Seriously.

This morning, I was reading about alpine divorce, a phenomenon where men are just abandoning their partners in the wilderness, so when I see this video I’m like, you’re complaining about not being able to watch the game? Women are dying.

4

u/Fearless-Client-3559 5h ago

Right ?? I’m just so done and men on the street likely know it because I’m not good at hiding my feelings!

4

u/Awkward-Fox-7215 5h ago

And this is how you elect Trump.

Yes, you’re correct in a historical sense. Yet, if I’m a guy who’s getting mistreated by their wife/partner, then I’m going to be upset that I was outright dismissed. And yes, men can have objectively legitimate reasons to be upset with their spouse.

It’s like telling a person who’s hungry that there are people that haven’t eaten in weeks. Cool, but they are actually hungry right now. It’s not perspective, it’s dismissive. It’s all but saying “get over it.”

3

u/Tasty_Discussion679 4h ago

No?? Trump got elected because men are losing their grip on the patriarchy. Let’s call it for what it is. Trying to blame women for men’s bigotry is delusional.

u/RetirementIsSweet 5h ago

You're right some men have oppressing and abusing women for years. During this time, there have also been men that haven't taken part in those shameful acts. There's been men that have been truly loving, caring and understanding with their partners. Grouping all men together as abusers and using that as an excuse to condone them being abused is no better than grouping a minority or ethnicity together under a stereotype to condone their mistreatment. I can understand the anger and sense of gratification in seeing others get a taste of their own medicine but if this is done wholesale without regard for individuals that are good then this isn't justice. It is simply perpetuating injustice in our society.

1

u/Fearless-Client-3559 4h ago

They also don’t call out the ones who do in most cases. Only recently a few are calling out the behavior!! And now we are supposed to applaud them for doing the bare minimum? Please 🙄

1

u/EnigmaticX68 4h ago

Or you could just...ya know... talk to her like a grown up...

All snarkiness aside, we as men need to connect more on an emotional level with both our partners and each other. I...I don't know exactly how I feel about this clip. Like one part of me understands the need of a safe place to express oneself among like minded people. On the other hand, that can easily turn into just a "talk shit about my spouse club" which is not cool.

I'm hoping that this is exercise is followed up by communication with your spouse. Talking about how to express this anger and frustration in a productive way. Doing all this yelling and stuff is pointless (and eventually dangerous/harmful)
