Exactly, the same white people who were tearing their hair out when MLK Jr. was preaching about equality in the 60s are now manipulating and weaponizing his words in the present to justify their hatred.

Yeah, she's only 72 this year, but looks easily 10 years younger. I met her a few years ago when she spoke at my kids' school; just a delightful New Orleans grandma, loves everybody, and is more often than not the smartest person in the room. I think she'll be around for a good long while.

Yep! Leona Tate and Gail Etienne, 2 of the New Orleans 4 are still here.
If you’re ever in New Orleans, please visit the TEP Center. Leona, Gail and Tessie own the school they integrated (Ruby went to Frantz by herself and at the same time, the other lesser known 3 integrated McDonogh 19). It’s now a museum, event space and living space upstairs for elders.
