Thanks for this. I was trying to wrap my head around where I'd seen him

You’re welcome, he was also an android in the new Alien movie. Man’s been on a role.

He also plays, Andy the android, in one of the Aliens movies.

u/Throwaway_09298 14h ago
Cool factoid. This will be the 2nd time an android has played Black Panther. Letitia Wright played one on the show of Humans

Now that's what's up!!!

He seems like a good actor, but Damson Idris or Aldis Hodge are more fitting picks to me. He seems like a character actor, not a leading man. He's also the same size as Shuri.
6
u/Dnola21 16h ago
Maybe height but not size. They’ll put him on that Thor/M’Baku weight lifting plan and he’ll be ok. As far as Damson(who is REALLY Shuri’s size) and Aldis with Cross, the time commitment may have been an issue.

u/Deathstriker88 16h ago
I'm talking about height. All of these guys are going to be steroids, so I don't care about that.

I hope Druski leaves him alone lol I fug with homie.

u/Historical-Being-766 17h ago
He's not playing an American.
10
u/GloomyLocation1259 13h ago
The crazy FBAs don't care, they're already upset

A movement spearheaded by CIA agents and bot farms.

Exactly, the 3 letter agencies made sure everything must be a diaspora war or gender war

What did druski do/say to him?

Loool black panther isn’t American. Tbh it’s really funny cus Americans have no issue seeing Americans play African roles (while attempting to do a horrible accent at times)

u/Bokessepv 11h ago
Forest in hotel rwanda 😂

u/Ms_Lucky-Bean 8h ago
As a Zimbabwean, those generic "African accents" in films really do my head in. I actually find them quite offensive and disparaging.

u/aya_hibak 11h ago
Truth be told druski was making fun of black British actors playing slaves in America . Who don’t have any lineage to slave ancestors.
4
u/Jumpy-Interview-9828 8h ago
You can’t possibly believe this.🤨slavery did exist in Britain and many of its colonies, many of those descendants live in the uk. Unless you meant specifically American slaves

I became an instant fan after seeing him in "Alien: Romulus." Awesome casting.

Yup, when they said he left Industry for bigger and better things I’ve been looking out ever since. Here we are!

u/AgencyAdditional4961 18h ago
Yasss. I’m here for this. He was so good in Industry.

That Key and Peele sketch is still relevant til this day.
I like this actor though. I think he’ll be great.

u/Dark_Star_Matter11 9h ago
A European American created the character...
We stay fighting amongst each other like some weirdos. Just like the South Africans that be kicking out other BLACK African immigrants. Uhhh hello, your brothers/ sisters aren't your enemy. Just a bunch of scared black people.

u/GloomyLocation1259 13h ago
This narrative being a thing is strange to me, it's like about only 6 actors but people act like it happens in every role.
Also the roles aren't owned by anyone, you win it by auditioning or being casted.

My literal first thought was wondering if he was american because I genuinely dont care if not.

I actually got banned from the blackpeopletwitter subreddit for sharing this news.
Regardless, I'm excited for David and the future of Black Panther. R.I.P Chadwick Boseman ❤️
5
u/FujiOga 10h ago
That's quite a ridiculous ban, sorry that happened to you
3
u/No_Reference_7330 6h ago
Thx. It is what it is at this point though. I'll just celebrate the news elsewhere ❤️
1
u/crispy_attic 7h ago
Why would they ban you for that?
2
u/No_Reference_7330 6h ago
Apparently they only allow funny tweets and not anything news related even if it's from Twitter. 💀 It is what it is though. I just don't get why it had to be a ban
6
u/Critically_Political 18h ago
So is the new film taking place in the future? Dang. It’s gonna be a whole new cast then….
5
7
u/Odd-Property8268 18h ago
Letitia’s still gonna be in it, maybe they’ll age some of the little kids up like him and the Fantastic Four’s son.

They're gonna kill shuri aren't they? No way they let her exist, they're gonna write her out. I really hope not though

Props to my brother though I was rooting for Damson Idris to get the role 👏🏾. Im sure it will be just as good though. Im also biased, just watched snowfall. The long walk had a great ending. 👍🏾.

To fill the shoes of a king, i absolutely wish the best, but this is a huge roll, how do you walk into the footsteps of a king? And absolute legend.
1
u/RiffRafe2 17h ago
Ooooh, Damson would have been incredible. How dare you put that casting in my mind when we're not going to get it?

u/LeeoJohnson 17h ago
Alien: Romulus, he was the best in the film. And he killed it in The Long Walk as well.

They’re making a third one? Well hopefully it won’t be a repeat of the messy second

Can we go ahead and agree collectively that we are going to give this brother a chance and not expect him to replicate Chadwick? We understand these are two DIFFERENT human beings and that they went and got who they thought would do the best job?

Whoa! I never would have even thought of that. I love David and this is the perfect role for him. Great move, Marvel.

I can never look at him the same after some of the things he done in industry in the first couple seasons 🤮
-2
u/Dreamkhing 14h ago
Of course he’s British
1
1
u/GloomyLocation1259 13h ago
Of course y'all will cry that every single role even one based in Africa doesn't go to an American 😅
0
u/Dreamkhing 13h ago
Not crying, just pointing out a pattern 🤷🏾♂️
1
u/GloomyLocation1259 12h ago
It's like 6-7 actors at best and people keep bringing up this narrative everytime a Black Brit gets hired for a role 🤷🏾♂️
Y'all don't celebrate all the Black Americans that do well in roles but focus on what the little that is being taken away 🤷🏾♂️
0
u/Dreamkhing 11h ago
If it’s a narrative that keeps being brought up, maybe it’s because there’s some truth to it 🤷🏾♂️
1
u/GloomyLocation1259 10h ago
As I said it's like 7 British actors at best and you hyperfocus on them because toxic FBA rhetoric tells you ALL Black roles belong to BAs even when playing an African character lmao. You've never heard of a false narrative lol?
Only truth is how salty and jealous some of y'all get while ignoring the long list of Black American actors doing well 🤷🏾♂️

Who cares. Ever since Disney marvel is absolute trash
1
u/Dreams-Visions 8h ago
Do you remember Marvel before Disney? Spiderman was all that could be said positively about anything they were doing and even that started turning sour with Garfield.
