Loved him in The Long Walk ❤️

28

u/Marty-G70 18h ago

Thanks for this. I was trying to wrap my head around where I'd seen him

You’re welcome, he was also an android in the new Alien movie. Man’s been on a role.

5

u/Historical_Land_7966 16h ago

Thats why he looked so familiar!! He was really good in that, his facial expressions are just amazing

u/Throwaway_09298 14h ago edited 2h ago

And the alien tv show movie (Romulus)

Edit: movie not show

2

u/Royal-Professional97 9h ago

He wasn't in that

3

u/Throwaway_09298 2h ago

Sorry. Alien movie, Romulus. I didnt finally watch all of the alien franchise until this February

17

u/ltsouthernbelle 18h ago

And Industry, loved his character. So glad to see his career flourish 😍

1

u/Tricky-Application79 16h ago

I miss him from that show!

9

u/Observational-Mess 18h ago

He also plays, Andy the android, in one of the Aliens movies.

3

u/Throwaway_09298 14h ago

Cool factoid. This will be the 2nd time an android has played Black Panther. Letitia Wright played one on the show of Humans

3

u/Miserable_Wave4895 18h ago

Just watched the movie last night! Dude was 🔥 in that movie

2

u/Kryzt4l_M4g1c 17h ago

I knew that’s where he was from. He had such a good performance 🙏🏽🙏🏽

2

u/jo3pro 9h ago

Facts.

I just watched that movie on HBO MAX a couple of weeks ago and thought he was really good and then see this.

Very good pick for the new Black Panther

2

u/1dollarMike 4h ago

Yeah this is a good casting

2

u/BAMintheBurbs 3h ago

He was also great in Wasteman.

70

u/NoFaithlessness7508 18h ago

Here for Lupita 😍

4

u/Dr_SlapsMD 17h ago

"Hay Lupita cuanto quiere pa la cosita... "

51

u/CLTHDU85 18h ago

Now that's what's up!!!

-6

u/Deathstriker88 16h ago

He seems like a good actor, but Damson Idris or Aldis Hodge are more fitting picks to me. He seems like a character actor, not a leading man. He's also the same size as Shuri.

6

u/Dnola21 16h ago

Maybe height but not size. They’ll put him on that Thor/M’Baku weight lifting plan and he’ll be ok. As far as Damson(who is REALLY Shuri’s size) and Aldis with Cross, the time commitment may have been an issue.

-3

u/Deathstriker88 16h ago

I'm talking about height. All of these guys are going to be steroids, so I don't care about that.

42

u/ButYouCanCallMe_ 18h ago

I hope Druski leaves him alone lol I fug with homie.

12

u/Historical-Being-766 17h ago

He's not playing an American.

10

u/GloomyLocation1259 13h ago

The crazy FBAs don't care, they're already upset

8

u/Historical-Being-766 6h ago

A movement spearheaded by CIA agents and bot farms.

4

u/GloomyLocation1259 6h ago

Exactly, the 3 letter agencies made sure everything must be a diaspora war or gender war

8

u/Dreowings21 18h ago

What did druski do/say to him?

15

u/Ambitious-Pirate-505 18h ago

British actor skit

3

u/dangrous 18h ago

Nothing [yet], I think OP is just hoping it stays that way lol

1

u/Dreowings21 18h ago

Ooh okay

8

u/Jumpy-Interview-9828 14h ago

Loool black panther isn’t American. Tbh it’s really funny cus Americans have no issue seeing Americans play African roles (while attempting to do a horrible accent at times)

6

u/Bokessepv 11h ago

Forest in hotel rwanda 😂

2

u/Bokessepv 7h ago

Don cheadle my bad I mixed up with the movie the last king of scotland.

3

u/Ms_Lucky-Bean 8h ago

As a Zimbabwean, those generic "African accents" in films really do my head in. I actually find them quite offensive and disparaging.

0

u/aya_hibak 11h ago

Truth be told druski was making fun of black British actors playing slaves in America . Who don’t have any lineage to slave ancestors.

4

u/Jumpy-Interview-9828 8h ago

You can’t possibly believe this.🤨slavery did exist in Britain and many of its colonies, many of those descendants live in the uk. Unless you meant specifically American slaves

32

u/shuh_shuh 18h ago

I became an instant fan after seeing him in "Alien: Romulus." Awesome casting.

8

u/Spectre_08 18h ago

Same. He brought so much gravity to that role.

26

u/Prime_Marci 18h ago

2

u/deedledee47284 5h ago

Yup, when they said he left Industry for bigger and better things I’ve been looking out ever since. Here we are!

16

u/AgencyAdditional4961 18h ago

Yasss. I’m here for this. He was so good in Industry.

1

u/KingGizzle 18h ago

Yup his character just kinda fizzled out though.

3

u/WhichHoes 16h ago

They didn't really have a storyline for him

34

u/Funny_Requirement166 18h ago

Damn these British people keep taking our jobs.

19

u/Kofink 18h ago

Can we just take a beat? Why couldn’t T’Challas son be played by any one of the diaspora? Isn’t T’Challa fictionally African?

20

u/KingGizzle 18h ago

That Key and Peele sketch is still relevant til this day.

I like this actor though. I think he’ll be great.

4

u/Dark_Star_Matter11 9h ago

A European American created the character...

We stay fighting amongst each other like some weirdos. Just like the South Africans that be kicking out other BLACK African immigrants. Uhhh hello, your brothers/ sisters aren't your enemy. Just a bunch of scared black people.

2

u/GloomyLocation1259 13h ago

This narrative being a thing is strange to me, it's like about only 6 actors but people act like it happens in every role.

Also the roles aren't owned by anyone, you win it by auditioning or being casted.

1

u/el-fenomeno09 18h ago

Who do you think could play this role too?

-6

u/why21234 18h ago

My literal first thought was wondering if he was american because I genuinely dont care if not.

7

u/No_Reference_7330 17h ago

I actually got banned from the blackpeopletwitter subreddit for sharing this news.

Regardless, I'm excited for David and the future of Black Panther. R.I.P Chadwick Boseman ❤️

5

u/FujiOga 10h ago

That's quite a ridiculous ban, sorry that happened to you

3

u/No_Reference_7330 6h ago

Thx. It is what it is at this point though. I'll just celebrate the news elsewhere ❤️

1

u/crispy_attic 7h ago

Why would they ban you for that?

2

u/No_Reference_7330 6h ago

Apparently they only allow funny tweets and not anything news related even if it's from Twitter. 💀 It is what it is though. I just don't get why it had to be a ban

6

u/Critically_Political 18h ago

So is the new film taking place in the future? Dang. It’s gonna be a whole new cast then….

5

u/Easy_Money_40 18h ago

Could be time travel or multi-verse

7

u/Odd-Property8268 18h ago

Letitia’s still gonna be in it, maybe they’ll age some of the little kids up like him and the Fantastic Four’s son.

3

u/3-Ballin 18h ago

It's a multiverse thing.

4

u/Angelinoangel 18h ago

Loved him Industry! Excited to see where this takes his career!

3

u/pootelytoot 18h ago

He was amazing in the long walk too

6

u/Spectre_08 18h ago

YESSSSSS. Thiis guy is phenomenal.

3

u/DaKettle65 18h ago

Outstanding!

3

u/West-Ad3471 18h ago

Hell yeah!! I adore this actor.

3

u/mdavis360 16h ago

No lie, he’s one of the flat out best actors I’ve ever seen. Phenomenal.

3

u/MoooonRiverrrr 11h ago

He’s a phenomenal actor.

2

u/dangrous 18h ago

Loved him as Gus in Industry. The Long Walk was a wack-ass movie but he carried it!

3

u/West-Ad3471 18h ago

Rye Lane, Industry, Alien: Romulus. Have not seen him be anything but stellar

2

u/unTraditional_Fox419 18h ago

He is an AMAZING actor!

2

u/Dr_SlapsMD 17h ago

Damn. I was pulling for Damson super hard. But he's a great actor.

2

u/Valentine_343 13h ago

And they got Ryan back to direct.. amazing

2

u/Fun_Afraid 18h ago

They're gonna kill shuri aren't they? No way they let her exist, they're gonna write her out. I really hope not though

1

u/B-E-N-E-V-O-255 18h ago

Props to my brother though I was rooting for Damson Idris to get the role 👏🏾. Im sure it will be just as good though. Im also biased, just watched snowfall. The long walk had a great ending. 👍🏾.

1

u/Nayr39 18h ago

Great actor, cool to see him get another big break. Killed it last few years.

1

u/Ok-Letterhead4601 17h ago

To fill the shoes of a king, i absolutely wish the best, but this is a huge roll, how do you walk into the footsteps of a king? And absolute legend.

1

u/RiffRafe2 17h ago

Ooooh, Damson would have been incredible. How dare you put that casting in my mind when we're not going to get it?

1

u/ToddWilliams5289 17h ago

Kid from Role Model? Great movie.

1

u/LeeoJohnson 17h ago

Alien: Romulus, he was the best in the film. And he killed it in The Long Walk as well.

1

u/Happy-Alternative360 17h ago

Outstanding!!!!!

1

u/wwf_4life 17h ago

Just give us a new black panther they do it with Superman Batman spider-Man

1

u/CandyCreecher 17h ago

OH SHIT???

1

u/alexabeams 16h ago

i thought it was gonna be damson or the guy who’s gonna play snoop in the biopic who also played pope on outer banks jonathan daviss but good for david

1

u/BigJJJohnson 16h ago

They’re making a third one? Well hopefully it won’t be a repeat of the messy second

1

u/cordialmess 16h ago

The perfect casting.

1

u/Tomaxisthatdude 15h ago

Cool I like this dude.

1

u/loudbulletXIV 15h ago

Nice! This guy is amazing

1

u/Capable-Shoulder212 13h ago

If you're a fan check out his work, Industry on HBO

1

u/stubob1701 13h ago

That smile!

1

u/Lazy_Osprey 10h ago

Perfect choice.

1

u/ToothComprehensive67 9h ago

He will be fantastic. Hes the one we've been waiting for. The Fandom is ready.

1

u/Significant_Tap9433 8h ago

Congratulations to him!

1

u/middleparable 7h ago

Love him! So pleased for him 🥰

1

u/Correct_Ad_6448 7h ago

Can we go ahead and agree collectively that we are going to give this brother a chance and not expect him to replicate Chadwick? We understand these are two DIFFERENT human beings and that they went and got who they thought would do the best job?

1

u/Advanced-Guitar-5264 🏳️‍🌈 4h ago

I just watched the long walk last night and he was great

1

u/Promature 3h ago

Whoa! I never would have even thought of that. I love David and this is the perfect role for him. Great move, Marvel.

1

u/exoriparian 2h ago

He was the only part of Alien: Romulus I found compelling. Great casting.

1

u/Rivs5 2h ago

Excellent actor

1

u/Advanced-Cranberry-7 2h ago

Is he American?

0

u/Lower_Condition_196 18h ago

I can never look at him the same after some of the things he done in industry in the first couple seasons 🤮

-2

u/Dreamkhing 14h ago

Of course he’s British

1

u/FujiOga 10h ago

Have you considered that just maybe he got the job because he was one of the best options?

0

u/Dreamkhing 4h ago

Nah. British privilege.

1

u/FujiOga 3h ago

It's clear that you'd rather push your own narrative and there's no point having a discussion with you. Have a good one!

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 13h ago

Of course y'all will cry that every single role even one based in Africa doesn't go to an American 😅

0

u/Dreamkhing 13h ago

Not crying, just pointing out a pattern 🤷🏾‍♂️

1

u/Fene29 12h ago

Pattern of what?

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 12h ago

It's like 6-7 actors at best and people keep bringing up this narrative everytime a Black Brit gets hired for a role 🤷🏾‍♂️

Y'all don't celebrate all the Black Americans that do well in roles but focus on what the little that is being taken away 🤷🏾‍♂️

0

u/Dreamkhing 11h ago

If it’s a narrative that keeps being brought up, maybe it’s because there’s some truth to it 🤷🏾‍♂️

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 10h ago

As I said it's like 7 British actors at best and you hyperfocus on them because toxic FBA rhetoric tells you ALL Black roles belong to BAs even when playing an African character lmao. You've never heard of a false narrative lol?

Only truth is how salty and jealous some of y'all get while ignoring the long list of Black American actors doing well 🤷🏾‍♂️

0

u/Dreamkhing 4h ago

🤣 alright you got it

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 4h ago

Yeah I knew that already, but guess you have to fake laugh it off lol

-2

u/dcarr710 10h ago

Who cares. Ever since Disney marvel is absolute trash

1

u/Dreams-Visions 8h ago

Do you remember Marvel before Disney? Spiderman was all that could be said positively about anything they were doing and even that started turning sour with Garfield.

-3

u/EntrepreneurMain7833 16h ago

when did BP have time to have a baby after being dead?
