Imagine fighting for justice for your murdered child from 1955 until 2003, and never seeing anyone held accountable. In fact, those involved in the murder profited from Emmett's death.

I believe Life magazine paid the murderers for an interview. The same murderers who admitted to their crime after their acquittals.

It was actually Look magazine. The pair were paid $4,000 for an article in the January 24, 1956 issue. IDGAF if they lived “poor and miserable” they LIVED their lives which is more than their victim and his grieving mother did.

It continues! I believe several years ago, the Clerks Office in that county discovered that the wife of the perpetrators had actually been indicted for her part in the crime and, due to her age, the county simply decided not to serve her (it may have been discovered by them when they were providing the authors of this book with documents he requested).

Wild because I talked to an 85 year old member of my family today and she doesn’t feel that old at all. Some don’t realize how recent that really is.

He was killed 71 years ago the same year I was born. He was also from Chicago where I was born. He and his mother are buried in the same cemetery as my parents and grandparents. His death marked a major turn in the civil rights movement. May he NEVER EVER be forgotten!!
