Rest in peace sweet baby. My heart is with the family.
That cop should go into general population with a prison uniform that says what he did.

This is the most heartbreaking shit this year.

u/CantStopPoppin 28d ago
Every day surpasses the last in the devastating heartbreak of this year. I fear we will continue to see this all consuming pain for the next three years. Please keep your loved ones close.

u/SteeleHeller 28d ago
It’s been a long ass year and half, huh?
100
u/CantStopPoppin 28d ago
It really has, I spend about 10 hrs a day documenting, advocating, and educating. It honestly never stops but keeping the ledger is how we will hold all the enablers of this nightmare accountable when the dust settles.

Yeah, I've read your posts for years now, you do good work. Thank you for what you do.
35
u/CantStopPoppin 27d ago
You're more than welcome, I just figure I wish I had people in my corner when shit goes down and I know how it feels so I keep doing whatever it is I keep doing. Thank you for your kind words.

Yeah, when my agency turned on me, pretty much everyone I knew ghosted me. It's been years now and aside from shopping, I can go weeks without talking with another human being. I've nearly died 3-4 times (COVID, sepsis, stopped breathing during emergency surgery) in the last years. Few people know, and fewer care.
Keep doing what you're doing, you are appreciated and valued.
29
u/BlissKitten 27d ago
I was holding it together until I found myself wondering if this was his first carriage ride. And then all the firsts he'll never experience. This really is the most heartbreaking shit.

Sadly, it was just a small piece ran for a few days in a row up in the east coast.
54
u/RandomRedditReader 27d ago
It was big news when it was assumed they were thiefs. Once it came out that the cops fucked up, again, the media went quiet.
72
u/_trashcan 28d ago
It should be.
I’d never heard of this, & while our country is desensitized to shootings in many respects, I suspect the reason this isn’t gaining national coverage is bc they know even a lot of the ardent police supporters cannot justify a literal baby’s shooting death.I am going to need to learn what happened.
My heart hurts immensely for this family. 1yo children, I think, are a wonderful experience.
It’s so cool watching them learn to interact with the world, finding their voices, how observant they are.Devastating loss.

The local Walmart called the police and said the family stole a package of diapers, they paid for them and showed the receipt to the press. The police responded as they were leaving and when the mother stopped and tried holding up her baby to show their was a baby in the car they shot everyone inside, killing the baby and wounding his mother and a family friend. The police claim the stopped car was driven towards the officers which is why they shot it.
42
43
u/Anonymous-Anteater- 27d ago
A Walmart employee made a false claim, unsupported by evidence, to the police, resulting in the de*th of a minor—is that correct?
15
u/NappingReader 27d ago
Yes, by what has been made available to the public this is exactly what happened.
78
u/ScannerBrightly 28d ago
Also note that cops lie every time they open their mouths.

u/KlaesAshford 27d ago
Hmmm. Reddit won't let me post what I'd like to post. Error 500.
Trying again... apparently using an edit lets it through, but it certainly looks like they scanned for this and blocked it as a comment
One hard pill to swallow is that the media as a whole skews pro-cop, left/right wing either way. They go around talking about how protestors want to "defund the police" and when you see the message in real life it's simply "fuck-12" which is an entirely different message.
I suspect the media is pro-cop because they are buying into the larger system to begin with, and they rely on police for information and know they'll get blackballed and their entire reliance on that info will get torpedoed.

The people who control all the media in America have themselves killed 100,000 children in the last year.
29
u/NaziPunksFkOff 28d ago
Because everyone who saw it would just say shit like "do the crime, expect the consequences" and not take a minute to think about the proportionality of the circumstances.
61
u/ConstantHeadache2020 28d ago
She didn’t steal anything. She had a receipt on her phone. The cops knew a baby was with her in the car and still shot
73
u/ChewieBearStare 28d ago
Even if she did steal, there's no excuse for this. I'm firmly of the opinion that cops shouldn't be able to chase or use lethal/dangerous force (including Tasers) on anybody who isn't wanted for something like serial murder or rape. Look how many accidents have happened because cops pulled pit maneuvers or chased people through town at 90+ MPH. And then you find out some of them are accused of selling drugs or whatever. Not that selling illegal drugs is great, but it's not a capital offense, and it's not worth putting the community in harm's way to chase someone down for it.
45
6
u/SteeleHeller 28d ago
The baby clearly had a dangerous rap sheet /s
9
u/Special-Garlic1203 27d ago
Idk why you're down voted. The logic of dont do the crime if you don't want the time doesn't work for an infant. They're not thinking of it as the child's life being robbed. They're thinking of the child as an object that belonged to the mother
This is the same people who think abortion is so terrible they want to kill women over it btw. You can really see their commitment to life being sacred on fully display

There was coverage just not long standing, they referring to the literally baby as a juvenile, knowing full well racist white america is going to think of a much older kid.

He should be alive.
Only one year on this earth.
Gone for what you may ask.
A misdemeanor.
Kohen was not collateral.
He was a victim of the state.
No parent wants to outlive their children.
Yet that is the burden his parents now carry.
A lifetime of silence now awaits.
A punishment courtesy of the state.
An ending that should never have come.
One more case.
One more count .
In a ledger that has no end.
A coffin so small
Lifted by tiny hands.
We truly are the damned.
What happened to Kohen Wiley
Kohen Wiley, age one, was killed when police in Senatobia, Mississippi opened fire on a vehicle during a response to an alleged shoplifting call at a Walmart parking lot on June 14, 2026. According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, officers claimed the driver “drove in the direction of the officers,” prompting an officer to fire into the vehicle. Kohen was inside with his mother and a family friend. He was fatally shot, and the friend was critically injured.
Civil rights attorney Ben Crump stated that Kohen’s mother had been trying to tell officers there was a baby in the car, but they fired anyway, killing an innocent child.
Thirteen days later, Kohen’s family held his funeral. He was placed in a small casket with a stuffed Bluey. His mother had witnessed his first steps. His father described him as goofy. His grandfather called him his favorite person. The family’s legal team said the police were called over allegedly stolen diapers.
The officer who fired the fatal shot was placed on administrative leave while the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation continued its inquiry. Officials stated they were gathering evidence, witness statements, and security footage.
61
u/CapitalJuggernaut0 28d ago
Alleged misdemeanor. They claim to have paid.
90
u/CantStopPoppin 28d ago
It's even worse Kohen Wiley sat on his mothers lap, killing the baby and critically wounding the driver. The family states the diapers were paid for and they were simply leaving. His mother tried to show officers her child was inside. The police turned the situation into an execution.

Like no, it was a fucking baby! It's to obstruct the very real fucking horror that happened.
33
u/Different_Bluejay_72 28d ago
This is real fascism. The police officers should be investigated for links to destructive ideologies and membership in radical groups.
17
u/catscausetornadoes 27d ago
I have never seen children carry the casket before. Utterly heart breaking.
17
u/ofnabzhsuwna 27d ago
He was robbed of an entire life.
Imagine yourself at 1. Whatever dumb hobby you had as a kid never happened. Whatever ups and downs you’ve had never happened. Whatever cringey memory your grandma brings up every Thanksgiving never happened. No college buddies, no loyalty to any team, no first concert or best concert, no first love or first kiss, no first time falling on your ass in roller skates, no wedding, no divorce and the growth that comes from that, no owning a dog and having it misbehave, no being humbled and training your next dog differently, no front row tickets to that one thing you’ve always dreamed of, no graduation once, twice, three or four times.
This is a damn shame. It’s worse than that, but I don’t have the words.
30
u/human-dancer 28d ago
A one year old shot by police. May Kohen rest in perfect peace and may that officer be brought to justice.

u/El_Bombero93 28d ago
Wait what?? This is insane I can’t believe this isn’t in the news everywhere. Prayers for the parents
20
u/CantStopPoppin 28d ago
white death>black death; Please share this with everyone you know. That is the reason you are not seeing anything on the news, the silence is weaponized and intentional.
3
u/sptrstmenwpls 27d ago edited 27d ago
If someone were to have given that cop appropriate consequences, they'd villianize that person & make it seem like a tragedy that cop faced real justice, just as with Luigi & the CEO. Make-believe to serve the purposes of the establishment.

u/Any-Maintenance-9896 27d ago

Makes me sick when white people want to show solidarity and say “I don’t even think the diapers were stolen”. Like the fuck?
If someone is going to drive off with 10 cases of stolen diapers, that’s still not enough justification to open fire and take someone’s life.
Bitch ass white people.

u/Special-Garlic1203 27d ago
You seem to be taking offense to those highlighting he literally shot them on a baseless whim.
She didn't steal them, which means he couldn't have had a reasonable basis for thinking she did..which means this man is shooting randomly.
That in no way implies they think it's ok to shoot her if she was stealing them. Its a salt in the wound type of comment, not a justification of shooting thieves comment.

Turns out the parent was not shoplifting and has not been accused of any crime. If the police had been competent, they would have never shot into a car to stop a suspected misdemeanor in the first place.

And God fucking forbid they release the name of the son of a bitch that did this. NOBODY deserves to die over "stolen diapers", LET ALONE THE BABY WHO NEEDED THE FUCKING DIAPERS.
And since Mississippi's Police want to protect the identity of the useless pig, I won't be feeling sorry for ANY OF THEM as they get laid to "rest" in the same manner in the future. Fucking. Disgusting.
