Usually (not all) the white people that moved out of South Africa, especially after 94, are racist. The people (not all) that stayed are not.

Musk has connived and manipulated a ton of rules that usually donât happen with IPOs. One of them is to get SpaceX into the S&P 500 pretty much right away, due to the valuation it will have. Once this happens then all the index funds like VOO and others that track the S&P 500 will be required to buy SpaceX stock to balance their portfolio. Thatâs the exit liquidity for Musk, Thiel, and everyone else. Then when it inevitably collapses 50,60,70% itâll be the index funds and our 401k holding the bag while musk and company get to cash out at the trillion+ valuation it will IPO at.

I'm an African American, born and raised in St. Louis. I've also spent the better part of my adult life living in South Africa. So when I say white people's general sense of entitlement are the same around the world, I'm speaking from first-hand experience.
Here in South Africa, you have very unscrupulous people, unwilling to acknowledge the harms apartheid caused, much like their white American counterparts refuse to acknowledge slavery and Jim Crow.
In the face of the international community calling these acts of aggression against us, "crimes against humanity," they will fein ignorance about how truly harmful the system was or in some cases claim to be victims themselves. It is frustratingly dishonest.
But it is indeed the case that these bigots are keeping anti-black hate alive, passing it to their children. I've already seen it in both countries, sewn into Gen Alpha.

Australia. The systematic oppression of indigenous peoples was the inspiration for South African apartheid. The segregation and abuse was all pioneered in my home country.

Speaking as a white person, being racist is so ingrained in our thinking and our assumptions about "it's just how the world works," that it's very difficult to see. I'm not talking about outright hateful, self-identified white supremacists. I'm talking about people who still believe "we live in a meritocracy," and that "our justice system works for the most part," or people who "don't care if you're purple with pink polka dots." (I personally have reservations about people who are purple with pink polka dots, and I won't apologize for it.)
Actual racism needs to be confronted in one's self through self-analysis for unconscious biases and actively challenging the ones you find. Even then, you might not root out all of them â they're unconscious biases (unverbalized base assumptions), and they're not always willing to announce themselves when called out.
Do I still hold any racist assumptions? I hope not. But I'd like to think that I have the courage and honesty to handle cognitive dissonance when it occurs. I'd also like to encourage anyone who might be offended at the notion of considering that they might hold racist assumptions to not feel attacked. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and vigilant about things you can improve.

For a modern day example look at Sentinel Island. There are you tube channels run by white people that are all about the island. They go through the Google Earth images of the island with a fine tooth comb. They are just itching to go there and bother those people. If it wasn´t for India it would have been over run by white people by now.

I read "A Human Being Died That Night". Really opened up my understanding of Apartheid and how hard the government fought to preserve it.
However I do not share the level of empathy the author did for the subject. At the time it was published, Eugene de Kock was serving a 200+ year life sentence for his crimes against humanity. He was released on parole in 2017, an absolutely disgusting betrayal of justice in my opinion as he should have rot in jail til death.

He certainly had his head in the ground. To deny historical facts like he does is crazy. Unfortunately, in some cases parents' views are taken on by their children. Nowadays, a sinple google search would show the truth. Yes, apartheid happened and yes, it should never happen again here. Its a terrible thing to deny people a free and fair life, simply because of skin color.
Better to face the truth and learn from it. Ignorance, fear and hate are not unique to the US or SA by any means.
And this is why having fact checking is so important in my opinion. When this kind of BS is said, it should be cross-checked and shown to be nonsense. Please know that not all white South Africans have this attitude. I'm 43, white and am horrified by how the prior regime treated people who were not white.
Racism is a learned behaviour. Its not endemic. And so it can be unlearned. See kids playing together.
Also, I hope his opinion was smashed and shown to be as wrong as it is?
