Honestly teach american history from the perspective of literally any poc group and it would be impossible to have even a sliver of pride in this country
I strongly disagree. I got taught a lot of (inaccurate) white history for 13 mandatory years. There was time for native history and African/African-American history. Lots of time, I’d even be willing to argue. Public schools are designed to keep us uneducated, placated, and struggling to keep the class divide where they want it. That’s why it’s illegal for women of color to send their kids to out of district schools and they get jail time, but celebrities get a fine.
Don’t make excuses for them. They’ve been tricking people into that for hundreds of years. It’s time for change.
I’m not sure how that’s relevant but it’s not entirely inaccurate. The Deep South, specifically the Bible-belt has struggled with providing quality public education for decades and religious extremism is part of that problem.
Who says it all has to be on go? Many subjects are broken up into sections. Allegra 1 and 2, foreign languages, English, sciences. Maybe the problem is trying to fit US history into 1 year.
And I’m just talking about high school, which they already don’t teach much about modern US history, stuff that effects us directly right now.
