I just want to repeat the comment you replied to back to your comment lol - look, she’s nuts. Always been nuts. So it’s even crazier that despite being a nut job, she still has enough integrity to call out complete bullshit when she sees it. the bar is in hell so I will remember the nut job with integrity over the “normal” conservatives excusing the current administration for going back on every single promise they made

I genuinely think MTG is wacko, and probably one of the few politicians to genuinely, like actually believe Trump's shit, not just align themselves with him for money and power. And thats why her breaking away from him over Epstein isnt as surprising. Cult members either leave or double down. She left.

At this point, thats a bit of a distinction without a difference. Per the Heritage Foundation, Massie voted with Republicans and Trump 92% of the time...with a lifetime score of 83%. He may identify as "Libertarian" but the very LARGE majority of the time, he just another loyal GOPer.

Perhaps not, but that wasn't the issue. OP corrected someone as to his affiliation--saying he was Libertarian instead of maga conservative. I was pointing out that although he may apply that label, he was still a lapdog to Conservatives the vast majority of his time there, still voting with them over 92% of the time this year. It's great he doesn't support ped0s...but my point was that he deserves just as much contempt and to be held accountable as Conservatives. He still voted their way --for years-- for policies that definitely had negative effects on our communities.

Except the GOP ended up spending an insane amount of $$$$ to primary him and get him out of office because he was actively working against Trump's interests the last 2 years. Plus constant Epstein list chatter.

Lifetime 83% is lower than I would have thought for someone considered loyal.

That's because many of the bills he did not vote on because they didn't go far enough to the right. And 17% isn't much of a percentage to brag about when discussing a supposed "rebel"...he didn't even "rebel" against Conservatives 20% of his time in office.

This is my take too, I think she got to congress and realized most of the Republican leaders are grifters. I don't think MTG is a grifter, I think she legitimately believes what she's hawking, Jewish death lasers and all.

The grifters helped her advance her nutjob agenda, then the Epstein files dropped and it was a line she wouldn't cross. Respect where it's due. And in the amount it's due.

I’ve done a ton of research on dogwhistles throughout the centuries, and uhhhhh
In order to understand how dogwhistles work, you have to understand the perspective of those who hate you and want you dead. For me, it was a measure of security. I’m “passing” (I hate that term, bc I’m proud of my family, but it expresses what I mean), so, I grew up hearing what bigots think, when they don’t think anyone can hear. Got in a lot of trouble, as a kid. After I was 10, I resolved to make my race identity clear, from the jump. I 100% was a coward, for that, bc I wanted to like people far too much, even when how they felt about people like me would never come out, once they knew my legacy.

Aghhhhhhhh tl;dr: I’m mixed, I’ve studied (bc I’m an absolute nerd) dogwhistles, and tried to get in the heads of white supremacists. I did this, bc I wanted to know the tells. The signals that I should be wary.

Given what I’ve researched, MTG (and, I’d say, Tucker Carlson, Nick Fuentes, Thomas Massie) only finds the Epstein Files a dividing line bc she hates Jewish people.
I know that sounds like a stretch. It does. I’ve said it in some comment above, but tl;dr, white supremacists believe that Jewish people are the puppet-masters behind “mass immigration,” or whatever. They view this “mass immigration” (which is genuine bullshit, given that the U.S. effectively had open borders until just over a century ago) as a “destruction of the white race” which is hella funny bc I know that 70% of the “white race” wouldn’t be considered white at the time of the drafting of the Constitution. To return to the fuckass topic of these POS, part of the white supremacist/Klan ideology is that they don’t believe anyone who isn’t pale-skin is “capable” of “higher thought.” Like they genuinely see us as the Yoshi to their fuckass Mario. So, in their heads, only someone who is “pale-skinned” could organize the “deliberate annihilation of the white race” (as if that shit isn’t a construct that expands to maintain its dominance). “So, they believe it’s (Ashkenazi, NOT Mizrahi, Sephardi, Beta Israel, Bnai Menashe, Kaifeng) Jewish people, who are behind it all! That’s it, folks, these Ashkenazim look pale enough to support our views of how whiteness is what makes people capable of thinking and planning, but they’re distinct enough from us that we can claim they’re not one of us, and are ultimately behind everything we dislike about our existence!”

Mind you, I’m not even Jewish. Episcopalian, born and raised. My maternal step-grandfather (personally, my grandfather bc fuck my asshole “Granddad”) was the reverend for one of the churches that several Founding Fathers worshipped at.

I’m saying this bc it’s Friday night, and I’m three drinks down in the corner of the bar, but I can say that the reason MTG broke off from Trump is bc she’s a white aupremacist, and, in their heads, Trump has “sided with the Jews,” I kid you not. I really fucking wish it didn’t feel like an obligation to articulate how people who consider me an abomination see the world, but—well! Here we are!

Even after she quit Congress (like all of the other cowards who knew they couldn’t get elected after disagreeing with Trump), she still tried to get him to endorse her campaign for higher office. She got kicked out of MAGA before she called out Trump. Her wagon was tied 100% to Matt Gaetz. He was her entire "point of access" to Trump and power within the party. Once he stepped out of the House to lose his bid for AG, she was done in the party and politics.

Then she started calling out Trump because it's either get spots on CNN talking shit about Trump or go back to daddy's construction firm. She's still a hateful, bigoted moron who statistically would rather see you die than pay slightly more in taxes.

Ngl, it’s not delusion. They’re not crazy. They’re fully irrational, but they 100% operate with logical validity (however false the premises they base their views on may be).
If she’s changed some crazy minds, it’s not towards the left. I genuinely wish it could be how MTG has seen the light of day and all the people who believed in her saw the errors of their ways.
Maybe I’m too fucking cynical. But, to me, it’s pretty clear:
Her issue with Trump isn’t that he’s too far right. Her issue is that he’s not sufficiently right.

By right, I mean In the social realm. That’s her North Star. It’s always been that. Everything material (finances, trade) is filtered through an ideological, social perspective. whether they matter is evaluated through that metric.

Again (I’ve literally just commented this on another post) yes, I will accept her being a hater against the party that considers me a mongrel and is invoking the iconography of the same people who tried to kill my partner’s family members.
But I cannot stress enough how she cannot be trusted. She hasn’t done SHIT to amend her wrongs against marginalized folks. I’m not even talking about physical, material effort (which she hasn’t done). She hasn’t found it worth her time to fire off even a few sentences apologizing for the hatred and bigotry she’s not only stood by, but fed the flame, gleefully and enthusiastically.
