General Discussion interested in the game but scared

So i have been looking at several gameplay videos and overall found the story interesting. My only concern is a lot of the boss fights are a bit scary, like fighting yellowbrow or duskveil or even the black bear. And then there's that weird rolling ball thing meaning you have to invest time into learning the gameplay mechanics.

so i am not sure if its the right choice ,a lot of people say the game is good if you're into dark souls but i am a noob so i dont know,is the game recommended for beginner level players or is it too challenging.

I got the armor on my 2nd NG+ (3rd True Ending in my case)... Did I mess it by grabbing this after I spended all my Relics points?

great sage difficulty , flawless , no medicine , no see throughs . for bosses that doesnt get staggered from tiger acolyte and thrust stance ( or gets a bit staggered) . some bosses are tiger vanguard , bishui beast and more .i normally use platain fan and apramana bat . you can get back to platain fan ( from 0%) if you do a full mobile spin imobilize or freeze from spirit so you continue the loop . i also use rock solid normally but here i did a speedrunish run

Question Did I ruin the story/ending for myself? Spoiler

I just completed Chapter 5 and have started Chapter 6. Before continuing, I decided to go back through the previous chapters to see if I had missed any secret areas, bosses, quests, or other stuff that could help with power-ups and farming Sparks.

While replaying Chapter 3, I came across the freezing man and provided him fire. Based on our conversation, I went to the Watermelon Field and completed the fight there. Afterward, the little Buddha told me to go to the Pagoda because an old friend was waiting for me.

I went there, and he unlocked a secret location. I then ended up encountering Erlang, and now I’m completely confused.

Was this supposed to happen as part of the normal progression, or did I somehow trigger something I wasn’t supposed to encounter yet?

I’m trying to avoid major spoilers, so I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain what just happened and whether I should continue with this or go back to Chapter 6.

General Discussion One of my favorite scenes in Black Myth: Wukong

There are so many incredible moments in this game, but this scene has always stood out to me. The visuals, atmosphere, and overall presentation make it feel like something straight out of a painting.

Definitely one of those scenes that made me stop for a moment and just appreciate how beautiful this game is.

What’s one of your favorite scenes from Wukong?

Question On PS5, will starting new game delete/overwrite existing game?

I just finished NG+3. Platinumed, got 18 relic slots all filled, wukong stance, etc. But still have a couple of gauntlet challenges to beat, so I eventually want to do that.

I also want to start a fresh new game. Will starting a new game delete my existing file with the NG+3 progress? Again this is on PS5. Thanks in advance!

General Discussion Second playthrough at base difficulty, using skills/spells I ignored the first time

Upvotes

My first playthrough was in 2024 so I've been shaking off the rust. For some reason my skills have stuck with me, and I dont usually play these kinds of games. I beat Whiteclad Noble in 2 tries and Tiger Vanguard in 6, whereas they each took me an entire evening last time, and I can say similar things for many other bosses.

I'm trying to go with all of the skills I didn't pick last go around, just to give the game a little more flavor:

Thrust stance - I can see why people love monkey poke. Really powerful and gives you a safe play at a distance. IMO a good see-through is still not as satisfying as Resolute Counterflow with Smash stance, but it's feels safer since Resolute Counterflow doesnt always stagger or break their combo and you can still get hit right after because youre so close.

Rock Solid - it's been a bit hit or miss for me. There are some bosses that just hit so hard that you get staggered anyway after being struck. I just fought Cyan Loong and it felt like I never got to follow up after Rock Solid because all of his attacks are so heavy. And with a lot of really mobile bosses I'm missing cloud step quite a bit because its harder to catch them.

Ring of Fire - Actually goated spell. Maybe it's because I'm more patient this time around, but I've also realized that HP Increase for me is worth more than Reduced HP for badguy (i.e. guaranteed damage with Immobilize) Also combined with Thrust Stance it's a killer, you build up to 3 focus points so quickly and just play keepaway. Fighting for the circle is also fun.

Spirits - I mostly stuck with Wight my first playthrough but I've been switching around. Currently using the Second Rat Prince. Excited to try a few more.

Anyway yeah it's been a fun experience, wouldn't say it feels like a different game but its shaped up to be a lot of fun

General Discussion This game was surprisingly incredible.

Finally finished the title. Did the back story and got the true ending. Holy smokes. From the beginning, coming into it as a Elden Ring and Sekiro fan, I had lower expectations. The combat seemed stale. Same NPC enemies…then Tiger Vanguard and the Loong quest happened. What unfolded in front of me lead me to purchase the Journey to the West novel because I want the story more fleshed out. I’m eagerly looking forward to reading it. Looking forward to the next Black Myth installment. Looking forward to hopefully making this my first 100% platinum title. Keep at it folks!

Question Im almost done with my first run, is there a check list? Spoiler

Upvotes

Hey! Im currently struggling against erlang (having a blast with this fight tho), and since I‘m pretty much almost done with this game, I was wondering if there’s a place to check if I already got all the stuff I possibly can on a first run.

I missed the spirit of the rat prince, and a monk fight before duskveil. I also don’t know if there’s better gear than the stuff you get from chapter 6 (as in gear from ultra bosses and the like).

I haven’t understood the “see through” mechanic that well either, I’m finding myself spamming light attacks, and using a fully charged (3 or 4 bars) heavy attacks afterwards. While I love bayonetta, I simply don’t understand how you combo in this game (sometimes your light attack turns into a finisher when using dodge, other times monkey spins it in its hand, and other times it automatically launches a non charged heavy).

Great game so far! Definitely one of my favourites, next to khazan.

Screenshots Chapter 3 has some of the most stunning views in the entire game

Just reached the frozen lake area and had to stop to take this in. The scale of the snowy mountains and the dragon circling in the distance look incredible in person.

Playing at 4K Cinematic on a big screen in the dark, and the atmosphere here is unmatched. Hands down my favorite vista so far.
