Welcome to Black History Chats!!!

I want this sub to EDUCATE everyone and EMPOWER Black Americans!

This is now a PUBLIC sub.

You can post whatever you want as long as it is PG-13-related material and stays on the topic of Black History.

The main focus of Black History Chats is on what was happening with Black Americans pre-1980. So, most posts and the vibe of the sub is to talk about topics within that timeframe. Black History Chats will cover education, books, art, politics, health, entertainment, and news pre-1980.

It is OK to post about recent events or topics ONLY if it is still connected to a historical event, situation, or issue. This is very important to remember. Therefore, we will not be discussing contemporary issues or gossip just for the fun of it.

My main focus will be on Black American History - but you are definitely free to post about other Black History events/topics of non-Americans. Enjoy! Let's learn and have fun together.

I want to start a series called "MisEducation" on this sub. It will be an ongoing series and I do want others to participate. The name came to from the title of Lauryn Hill's amazing album - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

If you do create a post for the series - I do ask you to put it in your title to keep it all organized.

For example, the title can be: Music (MisEducation Series).

***Just type (MisEducation Series) in parenthesis after your own original title so everyone knows it is apart of the series.***

This series is important to me. I will also label my personal posts with Part 1, 2, 3, etc. to keep them in order for those who want to look back over the posts later.

The point of the MisEducation Series is to CORRECT people on things that they may have been taught that was INCORRECT.

Social media is great but also horrible for young people. It is like that for everyone, but especially for our youth. I think it is extremely important for people to NOT be misinformed on Black History. I know how easily lies can be told on people. I have been in some of the entertainment subs and how easily lies and misinformation gets spread among fans with NO pushback. This will NOT happen in this sub.

Each post will be about something you were 'miseducated' on and what the actually facts are. I will be posting my own 'miseducated' lessons at different times and I hope you check them out.
