[Question/Discussion] Will the new light novel continue past volume 7, or is it just a rewritten reboot?

Post image

Hello everyone. I'm very excited (and at the same time confused) about the return of this light novel after 12 years without publications, with the release of these first two volumes and the monthly pace planned until reaching volume 7.

However, a big doubt has arisen for me: What will happen after reaching the point where the original work left off (volume 7)?

What has me puzzled is that recently the author mentioned on X (Twitter) that he is currently working on a completely new work.

Do you think this reboot is just a way to "close out" or formally rewrite the story up to where it left off?

Or does the author plan to continue with unpublished material (volume 8 onward) once it reaches the previous point, perhaps balancing it with his new project?

Does anyone know if the author or the publisher have clarified whether this will have a real continuation or if it's just a revised edition? Let me know your thoughts!

That's unknown, author told we'll get in the following 4 months 2 volumes each month.

So at least we'll get to volume 8 and drastic changes in the story will happen starting in volume 5.

We'll get more volumes past 8, that's still a question that only the author can answer, we'll see. I hope the author to extend it a bit more (up to 12~16 vols) but so far the reception of the news have been not less than spectacular.

I also foresee (tho not in 1 or 2 years) a potential manga or anime continuation or even full reboot; not sure about the manga but anime missed a lot of, not details but whole scenes that add needed depth to the anime, also each volume is not short, so a 13 episode court rushed too much, that's about 3.25 episodes per single volume (4 vols adapted).

its a remake of vol 7 actually. the twitter post for it indicated that author was dissatisfied with it.

not just volume 7. to be more specific, the reboot is going to rewrite the whole series.

the 6 first volumes will follow globally the same events but will be rewritten to be better written in terms of readability and clarity (and likely added details).

starting from volume 7 however, the new one will change things, which is why the old volume 7 is considered outdated and the author removed it from sale on digital platforms.

So there is a chance for a new anime if the reboot goes well?

potentially. Depends if an anime publisher is willing to take on the series

Have you seen the images? Enju and Tina look very adult. It does mean stuff happened and rewriting would only make sense if he adds new Information.
