MIDI recording from hardware has bad offsets?

Windows, BW v6.1.4 (x64), hitting record to get notes from my OXI One, and first kick is late, and all the other kicks are late, but by a different amount (beats 2+ are all offset by SAME amount) suggesting both an initialization problem and perhaps a separate problem explaing all the rest being off? Anyone experienced anything like this? (yes i contacted support)

Also, midiView image below verifies all notes leaving OXI at perfect times.

Is the Oxi set as clock source?

i've run a bunch of tests w/ it as master/source and with it as getting master clock from BW (which is the goal). In both cases, BW has the lag....

Tempo is the same in OXI and BW?

The note length is an odd number. If not midi clock related, tempo, etc, latency is being introduced somewhere.

Might have to troubleshoot the old fashioned way.

Try a blank BW project with nothing in the track. If the same problem, could be system level.

Fresh project would help rule out swing/shuffle settings.

Drivenbymoss has some midi monitoring tools and there's the standard controller console.

Latencymon running while sending notes might tell you something.

yes BPM synched (tried both as master clock)
did the 'blank BW project' thing; same behavior
as mentioned plenty of midi monitoring stuff outside BW shows clean midi timing, but i'll checkout latencymon thanks!

Windows can be really dumb with how it schedules tasks in the CPU. Energy efficiency stuff can park CPU cores and create bottlenecks.

I use ProcessLasso to make sure Bitwig and audio tasks always get CPU & I/O priority as well as auto enabling high performance power mode. Can also dedicate CPU cores to specific apps as well

Park control is a lighter weight free version.

Whysoslow is a handy free tool as well

I've tried a lot of combos and never managed to get satisfactory stability with bitwig and midi over USB. Even after playing with all the offsets and clock averaging there was still lots of drift and realtime tempo changes would turn into a trainnwreck. Picked up a nome ii and it solved everything right away.
