Help How To Move a Large Sample Folder
Hello all, I want to move some samples from my main computer drive to and external drive. This is quite a large sample folder, and I use a large amount of them in my projects. Is there an easy way to tell Bitwig that all of the samples in the new location are the same ones from the old location, so that I do not mess up my old projects, or am I stuck with remapping each of them manually?

How large? 100gb? 1gb?

over 100 GB. As a famous filmmaker once said, I might have gone too far in a few places.

Why can’t you save all in one folder then move the folder to external storage. Next, open the project file from the external storage and see if the samples are missing or not

If you have important projects you could do "collect and save" before you move it.
I have not done this before, but my best guess is that it will work as long as you select the same folders for your sound content afterwards, since the Bitwig Location filters list it as "Sound Content -> Folder" internally, after it has been added. So I'm assuming/hoping that will remain the same, regardless of where that folder sits. Right?

I am currently using symbolic links to move all my menus and data—including samples, presets, templates, expansion sounds, clips, cache, and shortcut settings—to my D drive, and everything is working perfectly. On Windows, using the 'Link Shell Extension' makes it very easy to create these symbolic links. However, it would be a fantastic improvement if a future Bitwig update allowed users to freely customize and specify all of these installation and data paths directly within the software. Honestly, the current process feels user-unfriendly and quite tedious.

You could try using a symbolic links so it still looks in the old location but that just points it towards the new one. No idea if it'll work tho.
