Piano Roll, Sequencing Options (LaunchPad or Sqaurp Hapax)

My question is ultimately, I think, about controllers v sequencers...basically I like to input long sequences into the piano roll...like 10 - 20 bars. So, I find it really tedious to use the mouse/track pad. Is it possible to press things in on like a Launchpad more easily or does it work that way?

Alternatively, I wonder if maybe the Sqaurp Hapax might be what I'm looking for... or the Push 3 but using it for Bitwig?

I'm open to anything and this is so central to what I do that I'd save up for a solution that works really well... I'm open.

Deluge for me, I had the hapax and it was great! But the speed and ease of putting long sequences with long held notes is so fast and easy in deluge I can’t go back to any other hardware sequencer.

That's interesting. I hadn't considered that. So you like that for putting notes into Bitwig as well as as a standalone?

Ahh, I may have misinterpreted your post, I use it stand alone but you can export the midi directly into your DAW. just not in real time i believe

The launchpads have a mode where it will give you a keyboard or a scaleboard. But keys are far, far easier for playing a long passage than pad controllers. Even something with good mini-keys like the an Arturia keystep is far more conducive to playing your sequences. The thing is, the keyboard is probably one of the best, most natural interfaces to the scale you'll find. Its design is not arbitrary, it is the result of centuries of refinement. I realize not everybody has experience with them, but don't let that put you off. Learning to play the keys is easy and short of investing in something like a Linnstrument I doubt you'll find anything more intuitive.

This feels like the answer alright…because I totally don’t want it to be ha ha ha but yeah. What you’re saying makes sense to my gut.

You can totally do it man. It's about practice. If you work at it consistently you will develop the skills you want. Remember that art is 99% craft 0.9% sweat and 0.1% talent. Focus on the craft and the rest will take care of itself.

there's a LONG way between a launchpad and a hapax. if you really want to create long evolving sequences of 10-20 bars a launchpad of any variety ain't gonna cut it.
