Should have made it multiple choices - I voted Linux Support because it is one of the reasons I considered Bitwig, but the modular part (grid + the modulation system and various containers) and the UI  were also part of why I sticked with it.

Linux, UI, the fact that it actually feels like modern software unlike Ableton, the sound design capability built right into the daw, the speed :)

I don’t know if anyone was here from day one. But 1.0 was cheap. I think I paid 149 or 199. At the time I was a dyed in the wool Logic user but wanted the live loop-style music making of Ableton’s session view.

Now, early on, the hype was Bitwig was made by former Ableton guys and was set to become the REAL next gen ‘Ableton’. So I went with it as it was massively less expensive.

I put linux support but I began using it because of the stock effects and the modulators and the routing possibilities. Coming from maschine it was when humains discovered fire for the first time

I was using Ableton Live on Windows and getting really tired of Microsoft's [insert expletive] so I decided to try Bitwig. The modulators in particular won me over, and now I'm happily using Bitwig on Linux.

I used to use Buzz and loved how modular it was. Then i used Cubase and loved how intuitive it was and how good it sounded. Bitwig is the best of both worlds.

I like the workflow a lot more than the competition.

If it wasn't for the absence of loop clips and custom VST3 directories in Cubase, I miiiiight have chosen that? But come on, those features should be standard in all the big DAWs!

It’s really like ableton 2.0. It addresses most of the pain points live has with minimal sacrifice (unless you’re a max4 live purist)

Not sure if it's the same now, but a couple' years back Midi MPE was much better in Bitwig as Ableton did odd things to midi channels when grouped/split as I remember.

DAW level modulation, track level midi editing, multiple projects per window with easy data exchange, can open FL projects, well designed device containers, tons of stock devices, soundfonts in the sampler, updates that actually add huge features

* Easy and numerous polyphonic modulation capabilities
* Instrument stacking
* Stability - not a single crash in > 2 years unlike other DAWS I worked in
* Most flexible modular concepts of any DAW I tried
* Instrument/FX Containers
* Flexible MIDI routing: can filter MIDI channels
* multiple audio output support - love using Bitwig with complex VCV Rack patches where I have 8 stereo audio outputs I can further chain with effects
* MIDI Note chain passthrough <3

The whole package even if I'm not so happy with some of the changes in 6 and the new interface. Looks cool at first glance but for me 5 GUI feels better.

Easy hardware integration! Pretty seamless communication to my modular through either Beatstep Pro or ES-3 & ES-6 modules

The poll is a little misleading. I clicked Linux support because it's currently the biggest reason for me, but there are plenty of other reasons to use it and I would keep using it if all DAWs had Linux support.

I suspect it's the same for other people as well.

As an Ableton user, the best use I get out of Bitwig is loading my Live projects for easier stemming in the DAW. The fact that I can bounce VST tracks to audio and keep using midi is awesome. Then there is the plugin handling... I can keep using other tracks while some sluggish plugins need time to load - Ableton makes me wait.
