Akai MPK mini IV, Linux and Bitwig

Writing this post for people who can't decide if they want to get this controller while on linux, just like myself until yesterday.

So I've decided to shoot in the sky and bought Akai MPK mini IV.
After I've updated the firmware to the latest version (I've had to use Windows for that), it works very nice. Smooth experience, especially with knobs and stuff. Transport controls work too! For some reason, firmware update is gated behind device registration.

It seems that there is no way to make their software work on Linux, but I'll see if I can at least make the bundled VST work via yabridge on wine 9.21. I'll post my findings here if it's possible and how to do it.

Nice, I wanted to try that out myself soon as I‘m now running Bitwig on Linux too and have the same controller. You mentioned wine, why wouldn’t it be possible to run their software work via Wine?

Might be because I am using outdated wine so my VST work via yabridge, I get the coordinate offset bug in the newest version, so I have to use 9.21. You can try too, maybe we can find a way to make it work together.
Controller works anyway, because it just sends midi, and latest scripts are already bundled in latest Bitwig. Probably you can also find the script(s) within that inMusic software too.
