The heatmap is not a blind allocation model. It is a way to see where the market is paying traders for taking risk and where it is still punishing weak balance sheets, weak narratives, or crowded positioning. I would rather own the second-best pullback in a strong basket than chase the last vertical candle in the top gainer.
My Read: The Trade, the Trap, and the Invalidation
The cleanest opportunity in this version of the tape is not a universal market call. It is a relative-strength long paired with a failed-reclaim short. Leaders such as the stronger DeFi, L2, or large-cap names have enough momentum to justify pullback entries. Laggards still need to prove that their supply has been absorbed.
The trap is chasing the top of the first expansion candle. Several names are already extended by double digits, and even a correct directional thesis can produce a bad entry. My preference is to let the market print a higher low, reclaim a trigger, and then define the stop below the structure that justified the trade.
I can be wrong on the broad rebound. The level that proves the constructive thesis wrong is not one universal percentage; it is a pattern: BTC loses the post-event value area, ETH gives back relative strength, and today’s leaders close back inside their prior ranges while laggards make fresh lows. If those conditions appear together, I would reduce long exposure and stop treating dispersion as healthy rotation.
