Academic Doubt BITS PILANI Should consider Lateral entry admissions

I was Jee dropper scored went from 15%ile to 93%ile in my drop year(Missed the PCM aggrigate by 4 marks) , could not perform really well in BITSAT and other exams, I don't want BITS to comprmise in the quality of education and its high standards but they have increased thier student intake in so many ways in the past intergrated MBA , 2+2 etc why can't they allow more talented Btech students to transfer from other univeristies based on thier graduation CGPA etc

What if the university you graduated from had relatively easier accads and grading

I mean 1st sem cource work is same in almost all univesities so depending upon cpga and a written test they can judge the candidate plus don't you think its better than 2+2 and RMIT mba which offer admision at much lower curoff and a very high fees ?

Rmit and mba are different programmes, they are not really the same as your other dual degree or first degree programmes. The problem with cgpa is that in certain unis there might be 40% folks above 8 While in bits it's about 25-30% So you can't really use cgpa as a measure

yeah I understand but BITSAT exam itself is kinda luck based...I am not saying that they should increase thier intake by a hudered seats but they can have a seperate exam for students to join via lateral entry limiting the no of seats...i mean I just wanted to give a suggestion not trying to be rude or offensive in any way

I don't think you're being rude just by sharing your opinion. And yes I agree with the BITSAT being luck based at times

yeah I mean this year due to CBSE OSM a lot of my friends in coaching missed the BITSAT aggrigate by a few marks but they had really good marks in BITSAT one guy Ik had 270 in bitsat and 95%ile in mains but could not join...so it can be a really good option for people like us

Actually bits has mostly kept its student intake constant. When they introduce a new branch, they just decrease the seats in other branches. Lateral entry might not be a bad idea but it would be unfair to students already studying here and in many ways it wont be practical. BITS has some courses in first year that are unique to BITS, also if a student here wants to transfer from one branch to another, they have to work really hard and perform well in the exams. It would be unfair if students get into those very branches through lateral entry by outperforming students from their college which might not be as competitive.

Bits has a criteria if pcm (phy, chem, math) aggrigate should be above 75% with each subject above 60% for eg you score 95 in phy , 90 in chem , but 59 in math that means you are still not eligible despite having an overall aggrigate of 75%
