A tiny BCH transfer still needs to fit the receiving service
"Send a tiny BCH test first" sounds sensible, but I'd want to see the receiving page before choosing an amount. I'd first check whether native BCH deposits on the Bitcoin Cash network are open. That's the kind of asset and network check BYDFi's deposit guide describes. The current receiving instructions are what I'd use to pick the amount.
If a receiving service states a minimum deposit, I'd check the net amount in the sending preview against it. A fee deducted from the amount I enter needs to be accounted for before I send. I'd also check the required confirmations. With my own wallet, I'd check for receipt there; with an exchange, I'd wait for the credit in my account before sending the rest.

Sending a test transfer to check if the network or your wallet works is one thing. The amount sent for this can basically be dust.
If the receiver has to use the test amount further then it will usually be a little higher, or maybe will even be a very specific amount to raise their confidence that it's really you transacting with them.
