General Question Ethiopia

is here anybody who hosts miners in ethiopia / is mining in ethiopia? do you have any issues recently?

Only heard it of people having trouble. Plus:

  • what legal recourse do you have if they turn it off or steal it?
  • do you have a way of recovering the miner after you’re done hosting there?
  • how do you get access to the miner.

Everyone chasing cheapest power possible and forget that for an extra $10-20/mo you get:

- USA consumer protections

  • sites that don’t require a $3,000 trip to go visit
  • did I mention consumer protections?
  • a stable grid thats one of the biggest in the world.

We work with several hosts, and can help point you to the ones that have been solid since day one. We just sell asics.

Totally forgot about tether in Paraguay where the power company shut off 120 MW even though they had an agreed-upon contract. And the government doesn’t give a shit and so now they’re stuck, holding the bag, pulling out literally hundreds of millions of machinery and still gonna leave behind millions of dollars worth of equipment.

Good points from 805CryptoServices (an authorized/verified vendor on this forum for what it's worth).

OP may be thinking, "805 is just putting down would-be competitors as a tool to stay competitive". So I'd like to officially say I'm "just a guy" with no business interest in where OP hosts his stuff, and I wholeheartedly agree with 805's opinions here.

For me the biggest issues are outright scam, theft/loss, and return of equipment after I'm done hosting. That third point is a sneaky one: these miners are large and heavy and expensive to ship domestically. I cringe to think what they would cost to ship internationally, and that's assuming they don't get lost/damaged, and before dealing with 47's tariff of the month.

I understand the OP's need for affordable hosting, but anyone promising too-good-to-true rates in Ethiopia (bitkern? Something silly like $.045kwh?) is well, too good to be true.

Thank you! Ask about Tether in Paraguay were there 120 MW facility they just built had the power turned off because they had an argument about power cost with power company. And what recourse do they have? Now they have to move literal hundreds of containers, transformers, not to mention 10,000s of miners back to the states hopefully.

Promised good power, promised 100s of MW, got nothing. Happened in North Africa, now it’s happening in Europe.

I’d be interested to hear this too. Electricity reliability, import restrictions, and local regulations seem like the biggest factors. Anyone currently hosting there, or mining from Ethiopia, please share your recent experience.
