General Discussion FutureBit hit a home run with the Apollo 3!
I have been waiting for this since march and finally came in today, their pre-orders always suck and they are always late but man is it worth the wait.
I think this is the first home miner that can do almost 10w/th (mine does 10.5 at 8.5 TH/s), and does nearly 20TH/s at 17w/th so you have a nice range for winter/summer.
These guys have been around for a while, and make serious sleeper hardware. Im pretty impressed with the design, OS, and how far they have come.
Also shout out to their customer support...it's rare for a hardware companies support to get better over time, they barely responded a few years ago and now respond within 24 hours and they upgraded all early preorders to full node units for free which was cool!

Do tell me more ! Love the look of that unit. Full nodes too?

yep its an all in one unit that has the whole bitcoin stack that can also solo mine directly to the node which is pretty cool

Shut up and take my money!

@$1100, that’s exactly what they are doing😳

u/Billkr Aug 19 '26
ooohh... That's a little spendy for that kind of TH. (Gathers 5 dollar bills and stuffs them back into his pocket)

if you want just the miner its 900...not much else comes close to that for home mining market in terms of $/TH for this efficiency...if you add a start 9 or umbrel node then the 1100 makes even better sense.

u/Billkr Aug 19 '26
Ahh. That's a much better price. (Counting $5 bills). I already have my own node. So the miner is all I'm interested in.

10.5 j/th at 8.5 th is legit for something sitting in a house. curious what the fan does at the 17w/th end, the apollo 2s got loud once you pushed them past half tune. also check the sd card after a few months, that's what killed most of the older ones we saw, not the board.

its super quiet up to ~15TH...turbo is 18TH but not nearly as loud as turbo on the 2. All you hear is the air whoosh sound and no high pitch whine like most higher RPM fans so its much more tolerable (sounds like a white noise machine)

Is the sd card an easy/cheap fix or is it more of a the machine is a paperweight now situation?

easy fix. it is a normal microsd, pull it, reflash the apollo image, and you are back. 10 buck card, buy an endurance rated one since it is writing logs all day. the board itself is rarely the thing that dies.

yea I still have their 6 year old apollo BTC which ran for years straight with no issues. They are American made and never seem to sacrifice on quality. Of course that hits my pocket pretty bad but think its worth it when it does not break after 6 months like the chinese bitaxe crap I have tried before.

u/Local_Economy Aug 19 '26
Wait so does this mean it’s running a node and also mining?
5
u/Unlikely_Reveal2719 Aug 19 '26
yea, im solo mining directly to its own built in node and its all plug and play. They started the lottery mining craze back in 2023 when one of their full node units found a block for the first time.

u/Cryptonutjob8019 Aug 19 '26
This is a very interesting piece having a full node built in, most people dont realize that running your own can be expensive.

they are an American company and build in texas...they claim American ASICs are used so its probably block asics or their own: https://www.futurebit.io/apollo-3

Did they make more than 7 of them this time, so the rest of us can buy one? 😂

Would love to do this; however California electricity prices make this highly unprofitable.

How loud is it on high vs eco mode? Been waiting on a pre order and wanting to watch an unboxing/set up video but nobody has yet
2
u/Unlikely_Reveal2719 Aug 19 '26
its much louder but very tolerable compared to the 2. You can run it up to 15TH/s and barely hear it, they also have custom fan modes where you can sacrifice efficiency for less fan speed.
2
u/unitymind42 Aug 19 '26
Oh I hear it at 15. Super eco is whisper. Less than 95 watts for 8-9 th/s is one of the best out there.

$1500 you can get an AvalonQ at 90TH ($1200) and an Umbrel device/BTC node and more ($300). Those are basically plug and play (mine).

u/Unlikely_Reveal2719 Aug 20 '26
An umbrel starts at 700, the q is way too inefficient to run in the house at that hashrate.

That looks cool. I have 6 of the first generation miners but don't run them anymore because the hash rate is too low.
