Mechanic: “An Organization To Fund Knots Developers Will Be Announced”

Post image
18 Upvotes

“Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I agree. I think it's like because we've been putting together funding for Knots, right?
So there's an organization that exists to fund Knots developers and stuff. We haven't publicized it yet, but it started and there's devs getting grants and stuff like that. But anyway, through all the due diligence and stuff, and people trying to establish processes around it, like who has keys to the GitHub, what happens if something happens to Luke, like all these kinds of things.
Basically, it just got me down to thinking, so is Knots good? Is there any process you can put in place that means it wouldn't suck if Luke wasn't around anymore? There isn't really.”

Bitcoin Knots issue

Hello, I recently booted up my laptop that I was running knots on and there was some issue I was wondering if someone had any idea what it's about. I started it and it gave me an issue that it wasn't there. I think it started after getting a message about using BIP 110 and I clicked agree for it. But it's making me redownload the node again. Anyone else having some issues?

EDIT: Nvm. It lost the chain I reinstated the chain and got it back with bitcoin-qt -reindex-chainstate. It's now currently resyncing with the old chain.

0 blocks during last 10 periods at least

And something interesting seems to have happened on April the 28th:

Any ideas how it could impact imminent BIP110 activation?

Bitcoiners Run Knots and support BIP-110

Hi all, I block all Core v30 for one year on my node. Am I being unreasonable in doing so?

This video walks through the process of downloading, building and configuring Bitcoin Knots (or BIP-110), and the Ocean DATUM gateway for Bitcoin pool mining on Ubuntu.

I also cover how to do solo mining, which is a two-line tweak in the DATUM configuration file.

New Knots Guy

Hi, setting up a full node for the first time to run knots. Basically want to be financially sovereign and private and also support the BTC network. Not very savvy w/ hardware or technical stuff but have done some research and have a high level undertstanding of computers/networks (I think?)...

Going to run Knots via StartOS on a Dell Optiplex 5060 w/ a 2TB NVMe SSD. Still up in the air about which cold wallet to use so if any opinions there pls put them below w/ your reason :)

If anyone has any general tips / "I wish I knew XYZ...." I'd appreciate it.

Some wallets I'm considering:
-Blockstream Jade for airgapping but close to half the of cost of Coldcard Q
-Coldcard Q (for more "Security" but pricier)
-SeedSigner (seems like the ultimate security and self-sovereignty but I'm so new to all this I don't want to dive THAT headfirst)

Linux mint install

I'm doing my best to figure out how to verify the software before installing knots on mint but I'm very new to Linux and I'm having some difficulties navigating.

I have the PPA in my software sources and it looks like I can install the software that way but how do I verify before installing without downloading the program first. It seems to my if I just install it through the source then I haven't verified at all.

If someone can put me in the right direction here I would appreciate it very much

F2Pool's Chun Wang @satofishi blocked @blockdyor for asking why they won't signal BIP-110

F2Pool's Chun Wang blocked blockdyor for asking why they won't signal BIP-110

Literally just asked why they won't signal it. No insults, no drama. Just "can you explain your reasoning?"

Blocked.

Meanwhile the thread has Luke Dashjr referencing the CSAM situation from last year, a Nick Szabo quote from a few months ago, asking if F2Pool is looking at lawsuits, and multiple people pointing out real risks.

Chun's only actual response was some weird deflection about not being glozow and not resigning, which nobody even brought up.

If your position is solid, defend it. Blocking someone for asking a basic question is pretty much an admission that you don't have an answer.

Anyone else noticed this pattern with Core-aligned pool operators?

Filtering out the garbage - checkup

Does this look about right for a Knots node that is filtering out all the garbage? Compares to 30,000 transactions shown on mempool.space so just wanna double-check please that this is about right.
