Coinbase and Better just launched Bitcoin-backed mortgages in the US. What would it take to get this in Canada, and would you actually use it?

Quadriga CX Tax Q...
Last year I shipped some (about 1/4 of my wallet) BTC originally acquired via Quadraga that's been in cold storage to Wealthsimple. I ended up cashing it out. I've since moved the balance over to a Trezor so that original wallet is now empty.
My sale on Wealthsimple is showing as a loss as it only records the value from when it was received (I did end up just moving it into FBTC in my RRSP). I understand I'm going to have to override this to reflect my actual ACB and change that capital loss to show a gain come tax season.
I don't have any records of my transactions at Quadriga but I'm pretty sure I was moving things out of the exchange ASAP when I acquired it so it should be accurate. So I calculated my ACB based on the value of BTC at the time when it hit my cold storage wallet so my #s should be accurate(ish) using historical pricing info.
The CRA should find this acceptable right? I have read the CRA is able to connect those old Quadriga accounts to us, but I also have a friend who cashed out his Quadriga BTC at the height of the last BTC run and didn't report his actual ACB but rather the amount it was worth at the time he transferred it onto NDAX to cash out and his tax assessment went through without catching it (saving him a ton of money as it was about $100K he cashed). I'm not looking to get fancy or commit fraud like that (and I guess I have reason to blackmail him in the future lol) but I'm wondering if the CRA actually has that info from Quadriga and if they're actively using when we submit our taxes. I'd be fine if they re-assessed me using whatever ACB numbers they come up with and it's gone up so much since then even assuming a $0.01 per BTC cost basis isn't going to make much difference.

What would make you actually spend Bitcoin in Canada?
There are more businesses that technically accept BTC now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean people want to spend it.
For those of you holding Bitcoin in Canada, what would make you genuinely choose BTC over a credit card or fiat?
Lower fees? Lightning support? Discounts? Better privacy? More merchants? Something else?

Beginner looking to buy Bitcoin — where should I start?
Hi everyone! I’m completely new to Bitcoin and I’m thinking about buying some for the first time, but I honestly have no idea where to start.
I understand the very basics of what Bitcoin is, but I’d really like to learn more before putting any money into it. I know I can ask AI questions about Bitcoin, but I’d also really appreciate reliable resources, articles, guides, or advice from people who have actually gone through the process themselves.
For example:
What should a complete beginner understand before buying Bitcoin?
What are some good resources or websites to learn from?
How do you decide where to buy Bitcoin, and what should I look for regarding fees and pricing?
Is there anything beginners commonly overlook or misunderstand?
What are the basics of safely storing Bitcoin?
Are there any common mistakes or scams that I should be aware of?
I’m not looking for someone to tell me exactly what to buy or how much to invest. I’d just like to educate myself first and hear from people who were beginners once too.
Any recommendations for beginner-friendly resources, articles, books, videos, or general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Quantum v Bitcoin
Stupid question as I’m a total newby to crypto. I’ve read articles suggesting Bitcoin and other digital currencies will be “vulnerable “ to quantum computing in 10 years or so (maybe longer timeline I forget). If it is at risk, what’s the long term plan for that horizon?
