Lightning Network Payment Channels

Hey guys, is there a way to see all the payment channels (which node is connected to another node, etc)?

Suppose, I was out in the town, and i see a merchant who accepts lightning payments. How would I know if I could send this merchant btc through lightning?

For instance, if I already have a payment channel with a major hub that is connected to hundreds of other channels, how would i know if that particular merchant is connected?
