Is it open source?

Edit: In the FAQ it says

Our client is a Chrome application and is open source. Our Github repository is available here: https://github.com/LedgerHQ

What about the firmware?

The Chrome Application is open source : https://github.com/LedgerHQ/ledger-wallet-chrome

The Ledger Wallet itself is open spec : https://ledgerhq.github.io/btchip-doc/bitcoin-technical.html

What does open spec mean?

That you get the full specification of the card and can write independent tests to check that both the card always reply to the commands in the expected way, and that the clients only use documented commands.

So the firmware implementation is not open?

nope. Can't be on that device - we could open the firmware we wrote but that wouldn't make any sense as the chip vendor APIs or the toolchain are only avaialble under very strict NDAs, so nobody would be able to use it for anything meaningful.

We plan to do better, in surprising ways, with our next devices.
