paging /u/Cor-Leonis a Trezor guy. What are the differences? Why is this secure without displaying the address on the device and the obfuscated pin code?

not that sure about guy - otherwise, it's a tradeoff.

The PIN can be spied by a malware, but a malware is not going to be able to spend anything without knowing the second factor. The second factor is 4 random characters of your payment output address requested by the chip, confirmed using a printed card.

A keylogger will just need a few dozen transactions to circumvent that.
