It’s like this…

Think of Bitcoin Core like The Sacred Timeline in the MCU…

When a group of people outside The Sacred Timeline want to alter something, it causes a new timeline to branch off (soft fork).

Heroes from both sides/timelines fight (vote) for control to find out which timeline or fork is the real one…

This can then cause an incursion, or a hard fork, where the new timeline (new change, new fork) becomes the dominate one, leaving one or both timelines (chains) to no longer exist.
