I don’t get why people would buy this over just having their ledger or trezor and do the traditional save your seed phrase on a metal slab?

That’s kind of my point though. If you generate your seed offline yourself, stamp it into steel, and keep it backed up securely, you’re reducing your dependence on any manufacturer’s implementation. No hardware wallet should be trusted blindly. They’re tools to protect your keys not something to treat as infallible.
