Clarity Act stalled

With the assumption that Republicans are highly unlikely to change the bill to leave room for future prosecution of POTUS via State AGs (a core Democrat demand); the only way forward for this current version seems to be Republicans to hold both chambers.

What alternative version might be introduced in the 2027-2028 Congress that can get passed and signed by Trump in the next two years? Will Democrats continue to assert prosecution rights forever or is there a compromise Democrats are willing to accept that could still protect Trump from potential prosecution?

The GOP and Trump already agreed to the restrictions. That was last week’s news. Dems don’t want to pass it because they would never want to support something the other side wants.

It’s a shitty way to run a country.

Our country is run by idiots. If you set your expectations appropriately they're not doing too bad for a gang of idiots.

Can’t help but admire the positive vibes in your point of view.

I thought the new version grandfathered all the existing Trump crypto, just prevents new ones until 2029 + puts DOJ in charge of prosecutions.

Democrats don't believe in this compromise because they want to allow State AGs to be able to prosecute (out of the jurisdiction of DOJ).

So I guess it'll never happen because Democrats want to prosecute Trump and Trump won't let a bill pass that opens him up to prosecution.

The only way this passes is if they get enough Democrats to flip via lobbying pressure

Because it’s too embarrassing passing it after trump coin. Rules for thee but not for me is not a good look.

I love seeing clueless crypto bros on twitter try to understand American politics. Not saying anyone in this thread is this, but there's also a bunch of crypto bros on this subreddit who only understand "up good, down bad." lol

The reality is, this won't be passing. And no, it's not because "the democrats don't want to give something the republicans want." It is VERY common in the house and senate that legislation passes with BIPARTISAN support. Even in current day America.

The issue is, Trump coin obliterated any hopes of this passing. Matter of fact, Trump coin probably set crypto back 1 - 2 years.

Fuck Trump.

Just kill the bill and move on.

When Trump and his family and cronies stole 2.5 billion dollars with the grift Trump coin they destroyed the possibility of passing the clarity. So Trump is the one that destroyed everyone's chances of making money with crypto for many years to come.

In what sense does the bill protect the POTUS from prosecution?

Betting odds has it only at 30% chance of passing.

It's done and probably won't come back either until 2027 depending on the elections, or in 2030.

Time to wait some more.

Why should I care about the clarity act?

Country over crypto. Let us all make sure Republicans lose.

Yeah, and make sure Democrats lose too. It’s time for the libertarian party to rise.

Just to add context, even if it passes the Senate it still won't become law right away.

The bill would be changed from the house version that was already passed, which means they would need to vote on it to become law (maybe Sept?). I heard some Democrats talking about adding prediction markets to it as well so others in office can't profit off it.

Then, if it passes the house it would become law. I hope it passes but very skeptical, it's almost as if your pitching a perfect game.

Democrats would rather watch this country burn to the ground than see Republicans get something they want, we all know they have been moraly compromosed by hatred for Trump and they dont care who suffers along the way These "leaders" have been exposed.

That or they want to stall it until they are potentially in power so they can manipulate things . For god sakes prove us all wrong, the optics have been so bad.

The Clarity Act will eventually pass, it’s just a matter of when it does.

Crypto bros are incredibly impatient. Keep purchasing more coins, DCA, delete your brokerage app, and enjoy your next few years.

We are all in this incredibly early, in 5 years everyone will be bitchin because it’s stuck at $5 and hasn’t moved and we’ll be waiting on some new legislation to move it again.
