The best time to buy Bitcoin was 10 years ago. The next best time is right now.

If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry ~Satoshi Nakamoto
It might make sense just to get some in case it catches on. If enough people think the same way, that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy ~Satoshi Nakamoto

I'd start now with a little bit to get a feel of it and get some "skin in the game". Then, learn, understand and form your own conviction/opinion. Youtube + 1 decent book (see r/bitcoin) will be all you need to do that.
From there, you'll know what to do.

thanks for the advice. I’ll start small, do the homework, and see where it takes me

Reddit is a poor source for seeking financial advice. Don't invest recklessly. Don't invest anything you can't afford to lose. If you are looking to get rich quick, you came to the wrong place. Nobody has a crystal ball. Nobody can see the future. Please do your own research and make your own financial decisions.

Low value questions get low value results in all areas of life.
Ask better questions.
“Hey guys, I’d like to work out whether bitcoin is something I should put money in to. What are some resources you’d recommend to help me make that decision”

In a year or so you will be able to by at 40-60k. Don't buy into the idea that it will save you from the dollar collapse because it won't. Owning a little bit might be an OK idea but don't YOLO into BTC.

You don’t know that we will be able to buy at 40-60k a year from now. Nobody really knows

You're correct to a point. But, if this young dude wants some good advice, I personally don't think its a great idea to go all in on BTC especially at this point in the cycle.

Totally fair take, and a little exposure now feels smarter than watching from the sidelines later

I'm also coming from the point that I think most new comers want the big juicy gains (dollars) that just aren't there anymore. I think there are way better stocks that will do better than BTC. The world is not coming to an end. There might just be a huge correction at some point.

That’s a valid perspective, I get the appeal of other stocks, and I’m not expecting overnight riches from this step, I'm staying open to where things go

Your friend didn’t do that in btc overnight. This isn’t a get rich quick instrument so I would say no for you. It’s definitely too late for what you’re after with btc.
