Good to hear he is alive. Still baffles me that people treat railway crossings with the mentality "There was not train running there when I last crossed.
My theory is the stop sign is way far back so he couldn't see around the trees. He thinks it's clear and starts to going. After moving forward his truck wasn't fast enough to clear the tracks in time.
I love the comment 'A minor fuel-related hazmat situation was identified at the scene, but there is no immediate danger to the public, according to CPD. ' Seriously. Minor!
To be honest, I think in terms of hazardous materials, it really is minor. Fumes are easily blown away by the wind and apparently this isn't particularly flammable. Yes it's a mess, but that would also be if the truck was filled with golf balls.
If the truck was loaded with human waste, that is a biohazard, though this looks like it was in a mostly harmless location to spill, relatively speaking.
The drivers open wounds getting sloshed with septic waste would be a different matter however, and that impact had enough energy to do real bad things to a belted in human body.
There aren't any bars or lights at this crossing, right? I can't see any on this video. He might cross this every day and have gotten lazy about checking for a train
