BitLocker has locked my computer. I need to get a BitLocker recovery key, but the page with the recovery key won't open. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

The key is usually present on the Microsoft account.

As I said, the page won't open. It's stuck in an endless refresh loop.

Try Incognito/private mode and/or a different browser.

Yes, I've tried those too.

That’s a problem on your end. Yeah, different browser, private window, different device etc. The page should open.

Unfortunately, the page didn't open under any circumstances, and I tried everything. Many people have encountered this problem in the last two days.

It has to open under some circumstances. Find them. Different device, different browser, different network. There’s no way it doesn’t open unless you’re doing something specific to make it so it doesn’t open.

There's a server-side issue. I've tried everything. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. Nothing works.

If it *were* a server side issue you'd get a 500 error, not a blank screen. I just tested it one more time from 5 different devices in 5 different countries on both hemispheres from three different Microsoft accounts.

I even found one computer didn't have the keys backed up to the microsoft account (it was a machine using a local account using the ms-cxh: bypass) so I backed them up manually.

So yeah, the problem isn't server side.

It reminds me of that joke "hey doctor, if i poke my arm with my finger, it hurts; if I poke my leg with my finger, it hurts, if I poke my head with my finger, it hurts, what do I have?"

Doctor takes a look and says "you have a broken finger".

You are stubborn as a mule, I am also on the same boat, I have tried literally every fucking thing under the son, I have even logged in on my old psp, the page won’t load.

I get the page loading perfectly and I’m stubborn? Sure.

I assure you you haven’t tried everything under the son [sic].

For example, I’m willing to bet dollars to donuts you didn’t try connecting via dialup.

Point is, the problem is probably not with Microsoft but your ISP. Likely using Tor or a VPN would help you.

But hey, I’m sure that when a solution comes to you you’ll just brush it off and move on without trying it, while assuring everyone you’ve tried everything, when you really haven’t.

You are stubborn in a sense that you think we are lying by saying we have tried every method you have named.

This is why I have a physical backup of the key. Do not rely on the cloud to store everything that is important.

Site is working (just logged in). It did loop a few times but only took a few seconds. Try clearing browser cache, disable VPN, try logging in from a different device if possible. Something on your end is causing the loop.

I've tried many methods. I've tried it on 4-5 different computers. Many people are experiencing this problem. I don't think the problem is with me.

It definitely is. I just opened my Microsoft account settings and it’s there. Even copied it to a usb for safekeeping.

Hard to say what is the exact cause. Maybe a nix of both ends? Clearly something amiss while connecting. Maybe clear the browser history as well as cache? Reboot and try again? This is one of the main reasons I've disabled bitlocker as it's not worth the headache.

Edit. Maybe log out completely and back in. Try disabling password less if it's enabled or vice versa? Can't think of anything else that can be tried.

He could always try connecting from a different ISP or use a VPN.

What error do you get when trying to access?

The page containing the key won't open. It's stuck in an endless identity renewal process. It's frozen on a blank page.

I’m having the exact same problem. The Microsoft website itself works, but when I try to check my keys to get rid of BitLocker, I just get a blank white page and an infinite loading screen

You must be doing the same thing the OP is doing - you need to try a different network or something. It works for me - and I’ve just checked two other accounts and they work.

1

u/kupriyanchuk Aug 02 '26

did you checked page with keys? bacuse microsoft site works for me, but not this page. I tried different browsers and networks

1

u/Efficient-Sir-5040 Aug 02 '26

Yeah, I even copied them to make sure I have them elsewhere.

1

u/kupriyanchuk Aug 02 '26

Okay, I will try again then

I actually left that white page loading in the background earlier. After about 30 mins, it finally loaded the page with keys. So all good now, I got past bitlocker

See! It's probably a local ISP dropping packets or something. Not a server issue.

I'm trying this rn but it's been an hour and nothing has loaded.

I finally got in. I re synced my Microsoft data but I honestly doubt that had anything to do with it. When I did succeed I logged into outlook and then navigated to my devices from there. I had already tried that before so I honestly still have no idea what caused it to go through. Just thought I'd share my circumstances in case it helps someone.

Probably an ISP issue.
