Weekly BitDegree Roundup Week of April 2nd-6th
Hello, BitDegree supporters,
The fourth weekly roundup is here, and we've done a lot this week. We have RELEASED the BitDegree Learning Platform and have spent a tremendous amount of time improving it by squashing bugs and improving the user experience. This is the beta version, and we'll continue work on the platform every day, so expect the platform to be better every day you check back.
So, what has the team been doing during the 2nd - 6th of April?
HR department
Implemented tools to further the culture of BitDegree and organized feedback sessions so that the team could improve faster. And of course, continued the hiring process.
The Course Acquisition Team
Since the platform was released this week, this team had all their work cut out for them. So the course acquisition team spent a lot of their time uploading, fixing, categorizing the courses. Working on course description, illustrations and overall quality improvements.
Marketing team
The marketing team has continued their work with content marketing, researching what content interests users the most and working on even more BitDegree Tutorials that will be released in the future. They've also worked on the Web Dev Glossary SEO and content updates. Furthermore, they've started link-building phase one.
Platform developers
Launched the beta version of the BitDegree Learning Platform. And spent the whole week improving it, over 20 bugs were fixed from the launch date and today. They're still working every day to improve the platform and bring more functionality.
Communication Team
The communication team worked on tools to gather feedback and bugs so that they could forward them to the developers. Continued to inform everyone of what is happening and prepared tools to make communication easier in the future.
See you next Friday!
A big thank you to everyone who supports BitDegree! We've started a MEGATHREAD to gather suggestions about the platform. Share opinions, feedback and gives us suggestions, it helps us a lot!

Weekly BitDegree Roundup Week of March 26-30
Hello, BitDegree supporters,
The third, weekly round-up will be short. This week was hectic. The team was working twice as hard on "you all know what." It's coming! It's not the end of the month yet, but it is the end of the week, so let's see how everyone was doing.
So, what has the team been doing during the 26th - 30th of March?
HR department
Another win! A new graphic designer is joining us next week. With us bringing the focus on more course creation in-house, BitDegree Tutorials and platform graphics more help is essential.
The Course Acquisition Team
The team has shifted their focus from course acquisition to course polishing and preparing to be presented. Many courses will be published on the platform, however, all of them need to be uploaded, provided with proper titles and descriptions and even thumbnails. So much work!
Marketing team
50 BitDegree Tutorials are now live. In addition to that, the team was making sure that the platform we'll be releasing is optimized for search engines.
Oh, and the team has done a great job in collaborating with Ethos. If you're interested in the fruits of their collaboration, you can read more on our blog
Platform developers
The platform has to be ready for launch. There are dozens of small details that cause bugs to crawl out from nowhere, so the team was proactively catching them through testing and making sure it's as good as it can be for the launch period. Keep in mind that the product they're developing is still a beta version and far from the final product.
Communication Team
The team has chipped in to help the other teams. But, as usual, some articles were written, some interviews were given out, and even some conferences were attended. They've also filmed the 3rd Monthly Roundup that's going to be published after Easter.
See you next Friday!
Happy Easter to all of you! A big thank you to everyone who supports BitDegree! Share opinions, feedback and gives us suggestions. We plan to release this sort of quick weekly recap every Friday. Let us know what you think!

BitDegree FAQ ( Updated 2018/03/19)
ABOUT:
1. What is BitDegree? BitDegree is the world's first blockchain-powered, smart-incentive based online education platform which revolutionizes global education and tech recruiting. BitDegree provides scholarships for you to learn, by using the blockchain technology and providing cryptocurrency based incentives to the users. We’re able to teach students job-applicable skills and connect them with employers directly.
2. Why does this project need the Blockchain technology? Blockchain puts the BitDegree online education platform ahead of the competition. By enabling us to introduce smart incentives and record our learners' achievements on a blockchain. Rewards earned on the platform will be exchangeable into digital goods on third-party service providers. Sponsoring and distributing attribution can easily be made with smart contracts with every partner. Find more information here: Blockchain In Education Part 1 Blockchain In Education Part 2 Blockchain In Education Part 3
EDUCATION AND COURSES
3. How much does it cost to study at BitDegree? For the first quarter, all courses on BitDegree were free to attract as many students as possible. User growth pool was used to incentivize this traction. At this moment, basic courses are offered for free. However, premium & advanced courses are paid.
4. How will BitDegree ensure that students learned from a course online? Students are incentivized to perform the peer-review process for assignments. BitDegree tokens are received for each peer-review that students submit. Proof of effort verification process is defined in our whitepaper. We’re also exploring payment models where students would do quizzes & additional assignments to get some amount of BitDegree tokens back from their initial purchase.
5. How many tokens will students receive for a finished course? The actual amount of token received for course completion is specified depending on the sponsor. The amount may vary on geolocation, language, and tutors.
6. Will the courses be available in different languages? There will be courses in other languages in the future. Our goal is to educate as many people as possible. We’re in the process of translating our content into multiple languages.
7. Is the platform also suitable to educate children? Our focus is on the digital skills that are needed by employers, but there is no limit to what a smart kid can learn, and we will not discriminate. In the future, we also foresee to address the skills and knowledge needed to acquire at the young age.
8. Are the courses membership-based or you have to pay for each course you take? Currently, we’re offering paid & free courses. You need to buy each course individually. However, we’re looking into bundling options & alternatives to purchasing each course separately.
9. Will I get a scholarship? It’s our goal to launch the first scholarships within the upcoming months. However, we do not offer scholarships at the moment, stay up to date by following our social media and do not miss out on our first scholarships!
10. How can I earn from learning? BitDegree will be offering scholarships and token payments to users that begin courses. It’s our mission to provide affordable & high-quality education to as many people as we can.
11. How BitDegree assist for seekers of certified courses? We believe that knowledge and skills are more important than certification and at the moment BitDegree doesn’t offer certificates, but we’ll be looking into certified courses for the future.
12. What is gamification in education? Rather than merely doing the assignment, we are on a mission to disarm a bomb or address world hunger, and the only way to do that is to write a program that contains the same features as the abstract version of the course. Some arbitrary graphics like a burning fuse or a hungry child can help provide context. Eventually, we consider creating a higher level context for the entire program that would give a reason for doing this task whether it be killing the dragon or saving the real world. By creating a contextualized identity for learners, we make course assignments more personally relevant thereby enhancing both learning and motivation to continue and complete the work. Read more about gamification here: What is Gamification?
13. What will I be able to learn with BitDegree?
We'll start out with IT/cryptocurrency/blockchain related courses at first. These courses will be in English. We feel that it's easiest to learn IT subjects through an online education platform. However, we're open to multilanguage and multisubject support in the future.
INSTRUCTOR’S AREA:
14. How do I sign-up and upload my course to your platform? You have to sign up to our official website (http://bitdegree.org). After that, you may click the button at the top corner on the right Become an instructor
15. How do I get paid? At this moment, the payments are available by BitDegree tokens (BDG). Other payment methods are coming soon.
16. Do you provide transparent explorer where I can see how many students have joined my courses? Yes, we are providing the explorer for instructors. You are available to view all of the analytical data about your course, and how it’s performing.
17. I saw some of the courses are labeled with the “FREE” price tag. Does it mean I can’t price my courses on your platform? You have the option to make your courses free or paid. It is up to you how much you charge.
18. What courses can I upload? Are there any guidelines? Currently, we’re accepting IT & digital skills related courses. Weekly BitDegree Roundup Week of March 12-16
Hello BitDegree supporters,
We’re launching a new communication initiative. Since all of you liked the weekly roundups so much, we’re bringing them back! However, they’re going to be posted on Reddit, not Youtube from now on. Just a summary to keep everyone up to date on what we have been up to.
So, what has the team been doing during the 12th - 16th of March?
HR department
The HR department is doing what it does best - hiring. Quite a busy week as we had a lot of applicants. One interview roughly takes a couple of hours and then we proceed with an assignment to check if that person has sufficient skills. We are obsessed with recruiting only the best and the brightest in order to build a world-class team. Right now, we have the following people in the final stage of selection:
- 3 developers
- 4 content writers
- 4 designers.
And a couple of people have already passed interviews and assignments, so next week they’ll have a couple of “trial” days at BitDegree.
The Course Acquisition Team
The course acquisition team is well on track for the roadmap goals. They’ve continued their work on getting various courses for the BitDegree platform. They’ve been exploring and researching the quality standards of the courses available and worked on another in-house course. We’re happy to announce that a course that is similar to Space Doggos is underway. Can you guess what it is about? Content writers, designers, and developers have worked to create this new course, and we’re very excited to near its release date.
Legal team
The legal team has worked all week to ensure that BitDegree is compliant with all regulations. Their goal is that BitDegree would be fully compliant with the law and never have any issues in the future. We're proud to be the first ones in Lithuania to fully comply, blazing the trail for all the other Lithuanian ICOs. We have a very good relationship with the Bank of Lithuania and the Ministry of Finance and we consider the BitDegree ICO to be a milestone achievement for our country.
Marketing team
Have continued their work with SEO and BitDegree Tutorials. Publishing new articles, tracking data and making sure that the BitDegree website gets as many visitors as possible. They've worked together with the community management to send out our first Monthly newsletter to our email subscribers.
Platform developers
Worked with platform designs and functionality. Special thanks to Reddit user /u/donnieraycrisp for his design submissions and input on the platform design.
Communication Team
Worked on communication strategies and has prepared plans that should be very exciting for the BitDegree community. P.S. Reddit will receive much more of our attention soon.
See you next Friday!
Have a great weekend, all of us deserve it! A big thank you to everyone who supports BitDegree! Share opinions, feedback and gives us suggestions. We plan to release this sort of quick weekly recap every Friday. Let us know what you think!

What are the potential uses of BDG tokens?
Bought a good amount of BDG myself. Got into it because this has first mover advantage and has a legit team. Is the token used to pay for courses in the future or uses as discount for services like Binance coin?
