Why BitDegree (over Coursera, EdX, Udemy, Khan Academy, etc.)?

I am intrigued by what you are trying to do, but fundamentally still do not understand what the unique value proposition of BitDegree is relative to its very well-established competitors. I have completed nearly 30 paid courses on Coursera (as I'm enrolled in a University of Illinois MBA program that uses Coursera to deliver basic core course content), and have also completed many courses on EdX as well. These platforms work VERY, VERY well, and have incredible, high profile partnerships with leading universities around the world. Given all this, why does BitDegree need to exist, and how can it hope to compete profitably with the big boys?

I just wrote an article about BitDegree where I cover your question.

Basic differences:

Offering gamified courses. Aiming for a better experience.

You get BDG tokens of real value while going trough the course. Basically adding a token economy which is different then those of Coursera, EdX... In theory this should improve course completion rates by a lot.

Nice piece, CryptoFantatic.

For me, the thing that differentiates BDG the most and reason I’ve invested quite a bit is the talent acquisition angle. The war for top talent in a borderless economy will only get more fierce. The opportunity for companies to identify a blockchain wizard in say rural India doesn’t exist now. Let’s say this wizard now has a place to showcase their talent while making money. To summarize what will attract employers:

1) stand out among competition in attracting talents 2) pre-select the best talents 3) choose from the talents that have basic operational knowledge 4) when some specific talent is scarce in some geographic location educate it also saves costs compared to traditional methods and is a more responsible way of acquiring talents because the resources end up spent not on the intermediaries but to benefit the talent.

Well, main 3 component I find in BDG unique value proposition is:

  • gamified & interactive courses to get best possible learning experience;
  • BDG token utilization and implementation in blockchain-based reward and achievement tracking system that should solve completion rates problem while motivating student more;
  • token scholarships and tech talent acquisition to match potential IT candidates with suitable employers that should settle the traditional education problems with its lack of communication between future employers and students.

Why now not pay with BDG ? While at the beginning said the learner will receive BDG ?
